Concerned...allnurses store product

Published

Is anyone else a little concerned that allnurses.com is selling candy in pill bottles at their online store? I for one remember that lecture in pediatrics. Don't let kids confuse medications for candy... Kid sees parent eating something colorful out of pill bottle, kid tries the same thing but probably not candy. I see that it's supposed to be a gag gift but it could also lead to something very harmful. I'm not a fan.

I think really you have to much time on your hands heck i didn't even know they had a store. I see your point but come on. This isn't Calif. These are my thoughts use them as you wish

Couldn't help but see it considering it was flashing as an advertisement. Just thought it was a bit ridiculous as this is a nursing forum.

I don't think it's for sale, I think it's just an ad for allnurses.com...I could be wrong though?

Since they call them "chocolate sunflowers" in the ad, I assume it is a real product - and as OP states very ill advised. I think I'll check out the website and complain. Gag or not we should be responsible.

No, I'm not at all concerned.

I checked the site - they have chocolate covered sunflower seeds and jelly beans. Poor idea, and I did complain to them. Remember those sugar cigarettes with the red tips that were popular when I was a kid. I think this falls into the same catagory. So OP, I'm still in your court!

I would be concerned. A child could easily get confused with actual pills in a bottle and the one time candies put in the bottle. Candies just shouldn't be put in pill bottles unless they were meant for adults of some kind.

Children get into the most awkward places ever...and if those bottles were actually medications then that could be a dangerous outcome.

Doesn't concern me at all. Thought I'd heard it all until tonight, seems you shouldn't leave Santa milk and cookies. Nope an apple, because Santa might get diabetes, a heart attack, and he needs to loose weight!:smackingf:lol2::lol2::lol2:

Really guys? How about you your teach kids about pills and let people buy chocolate covered sunflower seeds as gag gifts if they so please. Also remember, this is a nursing forum where the members are not required to pay for membership. Since web design, bandwidth and so on does not grow on trees, I would assume the money from these products will continue to ensure we can use this forum free and complain about it's advertisements. Just a little food for thought, pun potentially intended.

Hmmm...somehow I think your local poison control center would differ with you.

Meh. I thought it was cute. Decent enough as a gag gift for a nurse or something...I doubt a kid would be interested in getting a pill bottle from allnurses. There are worse products out there ACTUALLY geared towards kids - life is too short and stressful enough already to clutch my pearls over this.
