BSN bump in pay?

Trying to find ways to bump up our pay...does anyone get an annual credit for having their BSN or additional educational credits?

Not in NY.

Not in TX; I believe it's only $1000 per year for an MSN, so no incentive there!

In MA it is required to have your BSN to be a school nurse, so nope. Small incentive if I get my MSN but not really worth the cost of the MSN.

I could go get a doctorate and not make any more money than I do now.

I'm on the teacher's contract as a CSN, so we max at Doctorate level, and it's nice chunks of pay increase in 15 credit increments from Bachelor's on (CSN is graduate courses here)

I am in Texas - not in our district.

I'm on the teachers pay schedule because I have my certification. We have the following lanes that would determine your pay: BSN, BSN+15, MSN, MSN+15, Phd. I believe every lane provides an approx. extra $1K per year. Other than moving a up a lane, there is no increase in pay based on degree or credentials.

Specializes in ICU/community health/school nursing.

In both districts where I've worked you do not get more for your BSN, although the last one wanted everyone to have a BSN. I got no bump for my NCSN. As others have said, the bump for MSN or the like is not significant enough to cover the cost.

Do you have a union contract? I get a higher rate of pay for my MSN.

You must have a BSN to even be a school nurse here.

I am on the teacher contract (since being certified in school nursing). The levels are:

BSN

BSN +15

MSN

MSN +15

MSN +32

MSN +46 or PHD.

Each step is around $4K. I will keep taking classes until I max out and then ride it until retirement.

I am in CA, and there is not a bump in pay, but more the placing willing to hire you go way down. It it slowly becoming a requirement.
