Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone is applying to the BCIT Spring 2022 intake? What GPA are you applying with and are you applying with previous healthcare experience? How did the Casper test and Snapshot go for you?

Hi there! I placed top on the waitlist for the January 2022 intake, which guarantees placement into the April 2022 class. I am supposed to prepare for the high probability of getting offered a seat in January due to my placement, but I am able to defer any offer to April, which I will do. I do not have paid health care experience, but did do a 30h training course to volunteer with the Surrey Hospice and have done additional training to volunteer as a Grief companion and had one client. Other than that, I only have about 21 credits of university, but my GPA is quite high. Im also in my 30's LOL, so have some life experiences I was able to include in my application. I only did Casper, not snapshot. Casper was intimidating to be honest, the time available for each scenario went really fast. Anyway, I wish you luck, and hope to hear from anyone else who will be attending in April!

Hi!

That's so great, congratulations! You definitely will get in for this next intake ? That's also really good to know that you didn't have any healthcare work experience and only volunteered a bit. I also don't have a previous degree or any extra credits so super good to know that you still got in with none of that! Thank you for all of this helpful information! When I signed up for the Casper test, it also shows Snapshot... do I not need to do this? Snapshot was the one thing that was worrying me the most because it's an interview video. I'm super worried about not completing all questions in time... what are your tips and tricks for the test?

Thank you! Im glad you found some of my information helpful! I had actually applied for the September 2021 intake, and I guess my placement on the waitlist didn't guarantee me a spot for January but did make it so that my application was reconsidered for January, and then after completing the questionnaire I was placed high enough for my acceptance into April. I have just read that they are getting rid of the questionnaire, short answer test, and are now requiring snapshot instead. I agree it does sound intimidating, but from what I have read you can do practice questions as many times as you like and try to prepare. And I think they probably prepare you pretty well, and it honestly comes down to you and your own experiences, kind of like the questions they used for the questionnaire. I actually didn't do the practice casper test, because I just didn't have the time. But I did read about some qualities that they are looking for, certain qualities that seem to be common on the www.bccnm.ca website that are necessary in the nursing profession. What I didn't take advantage of when I did casper the time they alot you when you read every question, they give you 20 seconds or something to think about your response, or you can just skip ahead to the response. I read the questions, and then just skipped ahead because I was nervous, and then would have to think during my 5 minutes and I really should have utilized every second given. Other than that, I think the questions are really about trying to do the right thing in hard situations. Hard, but I think honesty and knowing when to ask for help is really important. I hope this helps!

Thank you for all of this! Can I ask you what GPA you applied with from all of your pre-reqs? I honestly don't have high hopes for my application to BCIT because of the Casper and Snapshot... but I guess we will see! I'm hoping to touch base with someone to discuss the Snapshot interview! I applied to Langara as well so, I'm hoping to get started when either one accepts me ?

My GPA is 4.21. I had closer to 30 credits, but not all transferable to BCIT. I am not sure where you live, but KPU has just changed their pre-reqs to make their BSN more accessible. They are accepting applications for September 2022 right now. It is where I have been attending and it's been a good school. Sometimes it takes a bit, but you will get in somewhere! I have a few nurse friends who have each gone to different schools, UBC, Langara, UFV. They have all said at the end of the day, you end up really learning what's required once you graduate and are on the job, like an apprenticeship. Wherever you can get in is going to be just fine! A couple of them have said that because of BCIT'S intensity and practicum experience, their graduates tend to be a little more prepared when they get out of school, but in the long run it doesn't make a difference where you go! Good luck!

Hi there!

I havent applied yet, but I believe I have 3.55 GPA, and some post secondary courses from other institutions. I also work as a care aide RN, so I put that on my application.

I just tried applying online, and towards the end there’s a section for me to confirm if I have submitted all the documents needed; however I just ordered my official transcripts to be sent to bcit registrar’s office yesterday. So, can I tick the box off even though, I am not sure if bcit received my transcripts yet?

Yes! You can say you have sent in all the documents!

Hi!

Yes, you can say that you submitted all documents. When is your CASper test booked for? I'm super super nervous about it.

Mine is booked on nov 4th! Do you know if that’s the last eligible date for this intake? Or we can take the other test dates as well?

Mine is on Nov 4 too! How are you preparing for it? I'm seriously so so nervous about it! I believe it just has to be in before the deadline of application documents. Did you apply to any other schools for the BSN program?

I see! And yes! I’m currently waitlisted for langara, but I’m also working on my application for vcc and bcit! I think I’ll just do the trial test, they have it on the website, and just keep re doing it to familiarize myself with it
