BCIT Nursing Jan 2023 Intake

Published

Hey all!

Just opening a forum for the students who've applied for BCIT's Jan 2023 intake! (waitlist offered students are welcome as well!)

I just finished taking my CASPer test and SNAPSHOT test on July 28 - still waiting on results. Application still on 'Pending Department Review" status. I've been refreshing myCommunications and application status every day, even though I know I won't know till 2 months prior when the program starts :(. Waiting game sucks since we probably won't get to know if we got in or not till Oct (judging from the past forum posts).

How's everyone feeling/doing?

Hello,

Thank you for making this! It is my first time applying to BCIT BSN and I am anxious, more nervous and scared about the decision haha. I did my Casper on July 28 too and just finished my snapshot like the day before the distribution deadline and my result is just delivered to bcit..If you don't mind me asking, what medical work or experience you are applying with? How many credits do you have and whats your GPA?

Hey paaira!

It’s my first time too and you’re definitely not alone ?. I just looked into my Casper and snapshot as well - it looks like they’re about to collectively ready the reviewing process.

I currently work as a lab assistant with over 5,000+ hours, volunteered as an assistant for a pool therapy dedicated those with disabilities, did some Covid screening, and worked in customer service for more than 5+ years! I’ve applied with 63 credits and a 3.3 GPA at BCIT but 2.88 GPA from VCC.. Other than that all my pre reqs are ranged from B+-A+!

How about you? ?

Hey,
You have a strong application!! I have been working as an HCA in LTC for 2+ years. I am also volunteering as a screener (also escort visitors) in hospital for a year. I took all of my 42 credits courses in bcit; my GPA is 77% and my prereqs range around B+ to A-, and my hca cgpa is 84(A-) . Took LIBS 7001 and LIBS 7002 which courses that are included, prior to applying, IDK if I have a chance but praying to get in.

-Where else have you applied?

Anyways, best of luck to us and I do hope we get to see each other in January 2023!!

That's awesome! HCA is already an upper hand to getting into the program - I'm sure you'll get in! I was debating to take either LIBS as I wait for the results, but I'm already mentally tired from getting my pre-reqs up there, so I'm taking the time to just chill before the storm, and then just take the libs courses during the program (which I already know is social suicide LOL - unless I organize myself, which I'm sure will be fine)

I haven't applied anywhere else! Just BCIT. So we'll see how it goes! How about you?

And yes! Best of luck! I do hope as well that we see each other till then! Cheers ?

Yeah, those courses are kinda tiring but I know you can manage it while taking with nursing courses. I only applied to bcit too bc finshed some of my courses late. Im also scared while im applying bc of casper and snapshot LOL but I just take the shot ??

Heyyy,

You guys have strong profile. I applied with 30 credits, GPA of 3.4, not competitive, LOL. I am also a student nurse in my home country and only finished the second year, with 136 credits and GPA of 83% but IDK if that counts, but I included that on my experience that I am a student nurse and have experience working in hospital.  I have 2 years experience working in long term care as care aide and volunteering too in a hospital for a year a half. I took my Casper(April) and my score was not good (cant retake it☹️) but I am hoping to get in w/ my experience.  Hoping to see you guys in 2023 intake.

Hows everyones Casper result?

Your experience is really up there! Hopefully there's some leniency regarding credit numbers - 60 credits in a nut case hahaha. I got second quartile for my casper, so I'm technically seen as a sociopath but who knows, I'm hoping BCIT doesn't look too strongly on those...

also, anyone got updates regarding application status? its sept and I'm dying to know..

Fingers crossed for us here. I hope to see you all next year ? I think we are going to see the decision after Thanksgiving (basing on the January 2022 group) so we going to wait for a month. Patience!!

I am taking one course in langara, so like I will apply there for fall2023.
