  1. Thanks so much! @JayCeee I just requested to join (Colleen) ?
  2. CONGRATULATIONS!! I was accepted too, can't wait to meet everyone ? Best of luck to everybody here, hope you get good news!
  3. Congrats! I just got accepted too! ? So excited to meet everyone!
  4. Haha, 65 more and I'm in too! ? Glad to see the list is moving already though, that's awesome!
  5. Hi @NelMwa , thanks for your reply! Best of luck with your application ? I took my Casper test in January (2022), and since the BCIT application is in June/July, I believe my test score will still be valid? I think they are valid for a full year/application cycle, which is September to August. I hope that's correct, I really don't want to have to re-do it again so soon! Although I do still have to do Snapshot - (that wasn't required for UBC so I haven't done it yet.) Thanks for the GPA link, that's very helpful! I wonder how long it takes to get an answer from BCIT, after applying - for UBC it took a very long time, it's agonizing to have to wait so long.
  6. Hey @khj329 , my email is [email protected] - thanks !
  7. Hey everyone!? I'm gearing up to apply for the BCIT January 2023 intake, and thought I'd start this thread so fellow applicants like me can chat and compare notes.. A bit about me: I am currently finishing my B.Sc. at UBC (my last course finishes in mid-June '22. I applied to UBC program, and was waitlisted (pretty far down the list, so it looks pretty bleak.) Also I'm a 'mature' applicant (in my mid-40's with a grown son), and my grades from way back in the beginning of my post-secondary journey are not good, so that worries me. (much better grades in recent courses, but not sure if BCIT takes that into consideration) Questions I have regarding BCIT application: how do they evaluate grades (is it total from all credits earned, or just the prerequisites, or some other breakdown?) does anyone know how to calculate GPA from UBC grades which are all in percentages?
  8. Thanks @yahjeh ! I will definitely check out all 3. I have only 1 course left for my B.Sc, which starts on May 16th, so then my degree will be completed (finally!) ? (it's a 4-week Summer course at UBC)
  9. I will, thank you! Who knows maybe we will end up in a program together and we can be the 46-yr-old-moms of the class ?
  10. Thanks @khj329 ! One thing I'm wondering is if they look more closely at recent grades versus grades that are way in the distant past? (see my recent post above explaining ^^) If not, I am worried I don't have a chance at BCIT. Also how did you find the Snapshot interview process? Is there an opportunity to explain more about your experiences/skills etc, in that interview? The BCIT application form is very short compared to the UBC one, it seems there isn't much opportunity to showcase why you think you'd be a good student and eventually nurse. Thanks for any advice ?
  11. Thank you @lotusmntnmama ! I will check it out. I'm worried about my chances to get into the nursing program at schools other than UBC, since UBC is good that they only look at the most recent 30 credits. In my situation, my overall cumulative average grades since year 1 at UBC are not good (due to a variety of reason like health issues, having a baby, trying to go to school with a young child at home, etc). But now my 'baby' is almost 20 years old and I've been able to step up my grades a lot in the past 8 courses I've taken (mostly A's), working towards finishing my B.Sc. I'm a 'mature' student - 46 yrs old. So I am worried that other schools will look at my entire academic results, even from back in the mid-90's when I did terribly, and reject me right off the bat. (note: my most recent 8 courses' grades are very good, but the 2 before that were not - so my overall for the past 30 credits was still not great - hence my '4' rank I got for grades) Does anyone know if any other schools only look at more recent grades, other than UBC? Any advice or tips would be much appreciated ?
  12. Woke up this morning wishing yesterday was just a bad dream. Holding on to the hope that a lot of people on the waitlist above me accept offers at other schools so I can stay at UBC ?. But as a plan B I'm going to work on my BCIT application for Jan'23 intake (need to do Snapshot now). I thought about Langara too but I don't have the STAT prereq course. Guess I could take it online somewhere .. but how competitive is it to get into Langara , anyone know? I'm also reminding myself that many people don't get in on their first try, I just won't give up!
  13. I'm right near you on the list, sending positive hopeful vibes into the universe for both of us right now!! #prayingforamiracle??
  14. Does anyone know how many people were waitlisted in previous years, and how it compares to the number waitlisted this year? I just wonder if it's around the same or not.?
  15. I've been too scared to open the letter, but I just did - waitlist #69 ? Casper 1 Supplemental 1 Admission Average 4 Please everyone who's on the waitlist, post if you get in! Do you think I have a chance, I am so disappointed in the number. Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted! ?
