Appearance at work

Published

When you work, what is your average appearance? Do you wear a lot of make up? Minimal? Hair styled or cut low key or thrown into a pony tail, etc. Usually I try to style my hair somewhat in a cute up do, some makeup such as a little eyeliner and foundation/lip balm but nothing too much.

Mineral make-up, hair in a ponytail. When my hair is really short I pull it half back with a clip, something about my hair in my face at work drives me nuts.

Theres been a recent thread like this.

For work, if you are in a hot environment, why clog up your skin with make up? My routine, is always to straighten my hair, (think Shirley Temple!:lol2:) Moisturise my face, use LOADS of lip balm throughout the shift, otherwise bare-faced and cheeky!!:lol2: Am nearly 39, have not a wrinkle, (despite being a smoker). I wear make up to go out, when I want to feel good, just could not do it for NICU work.

-hair french role, or other elegant style

-stud earring or small loops

-no necklaces or rings

When I'm at work, more than my skills are on display, I love getting ready for my role!!!!!

I'm sorry, but I love the compliments:idea:, after all, I'm not at the bar or club getting them, lol.

But, ahem, see me in a grocery store, pumping gas, I look like the mom I am.

i wear very minimal makeup. usually moisturizer, lip gloss and mascara. hair is always, always, always up. and scrubs are usually a dark color like navy.

a couple things i've learned from working and people i've worked with...

1. if you have a patient with TB, and you have on foundation, prepare to look like some kind of freak when you take the N95-resp. mask off and you have a line around your mouth where you sweated your foundation off.

2. if you have long hair, wear it up. there is nothing worse then having your hair-did and grandpa wants to pet your hair with the same hand he dug out gold from his diaper with.

3. make sure your mascara/eyeliner is waterproof! if you are in the middle of chest compressions and you start sweating, you will look like a raccoon.

4. please wear deoderant!

5. if you have on white scrubs, remember any color drawers you wear besides off white will be visible.

6. don't keep your nails long. they harbor germs, for one, and you may end up getting gook underneath them anyways and earn the nickname "poop nails".

7. don't wear big dangly hoop earrings. they are so easy to grab and pull out. i've seen ear lobes get ripped this way.

8. same goes for pretty necklaces and lanyards. they are easy to grab,

break, or strangle someone with.

i can't think of anymore right now...

anyone else think of anything? :)

high and tight hair, no makeup, glasses, clean, pressed scrubs... course I'm a guy, ... lol.

lol.....If someone has a line around their mouth where they sweated their foundation off after wearing a mask then it probably wasn't the right color or they put too much on; even then "some kind of freak" is a bit much. It's just makeup.

Normally a nice patterned scrub top

hair up in a clip or pony tail

no make-up, I rarely wear it outside of work

birthstone ring on my middle finger and studs in my ears

I'm really anal about hair/earrings hanging, I've worked dementia too long.

i was referring to a woman i used to work with.. she used to wear an almost orange tinted foundation (i lived in FL and she was a bit overtanned)... but anyways, it was just a joke... sorry

I love mineral makeup. So quick and easy and looks natural. I have very dry skin and have to moisturize my face every night and a light moisturizer in the morning. Brush on the makeup, mascara and light swipe of lipstick. I wear my hair down, but it just touches my shoulders. I iron my scrubs the night before (just a habit I have never been able to break). White Nikes and away I go.

Solid, usually brightly colored scrubs that get the dryer-iron treatment while I shower. My hair is long and thick, and I usually wear it up in a ponytail. I've worn it down maybe 5 times at the most in the last year - and usually on nights when I had it straightened for something I did before work. Makeup is rare.

Seems if I do my hair and makeup for work, I'm just asking to have a pair of patients on contact and droplet precautions, or for someone to code - I don't think it's failed yet!
