Appearance at work

Published

When you work, what is your average appearance? Do you wear a lot of make up? Minimal? Hair styled or cut low key or thrown into a pony tail, etc. Usually I try to style my hair somewhat in a cute up do, some makeup such as a little eyeliner and foundation/lip balm but nothing too much.

Bethin, honey, why are you putting Anything on your face for nightshift, apart from moisturiser and some good old vaseline for your lips?? You are a Young 'un...your skin is still fresh..dont clog it up during the nights with extra layers!

Ok, there goes my advice head, it's just that I don't and Won't clog up may face with make up while I work, so at thirty nine, my skin is still young looking..(despite being a smoker). (I know...worst thing etc!) But in the hospital, your face gets so hot..spots come up if your pores are clogged with gunk. I love make up when it's a special occasion, when I'm going out on the town, I put my face on. But at work I'm just wee me, clean faced, no spots, ready to work and not in the least worried about "panda eyes!"

.let your skin breathe during the night, when it really should be sleeping babe!:D

What I have seen at the hospitals is horrible. Scrubs that are horribly faded, severely mismatched, people coming to work with scrubs 4x too big or that drag the floor.

....and then they wonder why some hospitals start issuing strict dress codes.

My scrubs are pressed and matched. I shower before every shift and wear makeup. I usually wear neutral tones. My hair is down when I go in and within an hour, I'm usually putting it up in a clip. I try to look as neat as possible. But, by the end of a hectic day it looks like I ran marathon.LOL.

Have very short hair so I always take the time to blow it out and style it. I never leave the house without mascara and many days that is all I wear besides moisturizer (super light, oil-free Aveeno for my oily/combination skin) and Burt's Bees lip balm! Occasionally will wear foundation, powder, and eye shadow. Clean and pressed scrubs generally in solid colors but sometimes wear print tops. White sneakers or other comfortable shoes. Minimal to no jewelry. Maybe post earrings and my Citizen EcoDrive watch.

Sometimes, skinwise, I feel like everyones Mammy Babe!

I'm addicted to eyeliner, since junior high! I use Unstoppable by Maybelline, same for mascara. And a soft neutral shadow on the lids. I even tried toning down my eye makeup once... it only lasted a few days before I was back to my old habits. I somehow feel more confident with my eyes done. And always a touch of blush b/c I'm very fair. But foundation is only a little concealer and a dusting of powder. I break out if there's too much on my skin! Only lip balm on the lips, which I apply CONSTANTLY. As for hair, mine is rather long, but I still like to wear it down. Some mornings I blow dry it straight, but usually just comb and let it dry in its natural waves. Only if it looks hideous or it's very hot will I pull it up into a ponytail.

Nurses where I work must wear white shoes and scrub pants, but tops can be any color. I like to wear pretty florals or soft solid colors either alone or with a contrasting T-shirt underneath.

Because I have blotchy skin that has been plagued with acne (hello red spots) since I became pregnant.

Trust me...NO ONE wants to see me work without makeup.

I look drastically different, and I look like I'm sick.

Not everyone looks good without makeup...and I sure don't want to be treated by a nurse that looks like she needs to be in the next bed beside me.

Oh believe me, I let my skin go nekkid (that's how we say it in these parts) as much as I can....but at work, I'm with Hopefull. You don't want to see me w/o out it if you're in the hospital trusting me with your wellbeing! :chuckle

I pray my dear 3yo does not grow up to have the adult acne issues that I have!!!
