I moved to Texas in April and was having some frustration waiting for my license to get endorsed because I had a misdemeanor conviction in Los Angeles in 1996...Well now that its resolved and I finally got my license and just landed a FT gig on Friday the 13th(), I would say that my frustrations have gone away. But as far as regretting the move here...I love it...I love my neighborhood, the economy here is great and there are lots of opportunities here....my family loves it as well...we moved from Las Vegas so this life is much more humble...jus my

I moved to Texas from California in 2005 and have mixed feelings. I don't regret moving here, but I didn't expect to be here for so long, either. I am basically still living here due to the economy. My choices are to stay in Texas and remain employed, or return to California with minimal chances of finding employment. Since there really aren't any nursing jobs in CA, I've got to stay put for now.
I dislike certain aspects of the culture, but I will not go into any further detail.
I am from Los Angeles,Ca and I would never move back to Cali...the economy is terrible there and the cost of living is outrageous. I like it here so far..the culture is fine where I am and at least there is culture here..My son can learn alot here and the education system where we live (plano) beats any parts of Los Angeles...hands down

I moved 15 years ago and never looked back. Love Texas. At odds with some of the culture at times but overall I love the place!

I moved to Houston in May after graduating (from Alaska). I have a LVN & RN and I have spent 5 months job hunting... with NO LUCK!!! I finally landed a LVN job, but it is part time/no benefits/low pay.
My family has gone through over 15K in savings/401K for living expenses and now we are BROKE.
Houston is where I want to live, but I really regret moving here. I should have stayed put in Alaska and saved a lot of money.

I have lived here my whole life and love it here. I plan to do travel nursing for 2-3 years but will be keeping my home in San Antonio. I plan to live here in the future still.

I'm curious as to what about the culture you guys don't like. I've lived in Houston my whole life and want to get out (and oddly enough, move to California...). I HATE the weather here and people are a little close minded.
you think texans are close minded, wait until you have a deep intra or interpersonal converstion or political conversation.... the liberal mentality of the majority of west coasters is VERY different....

Houston from Alaska.. that has to be a shock on the system. I've lived in Houston since I was 6 (32 years) and when I graduate I'm getting out of dodge and going somewhere else to live. Alaska isn't out of the question.
