:o i started a & p: i on january 12th. i am using the marieb book (if anyone else is too!) i feel sooo overwhelmed. i took basic a & p last semester, and breezed through it. i know a & p is serious work, but can anyone give me some tips to boost my grade?? i just took a quiz and i got a 79.2...uggh! one of the main problems i think, is that this class is online!! complete craziness! i have taken about 7 classes online, and made all a's. so, i am used to the self-discipline involved, in order to do well in these classes. i have another quiz tomorrow, and i am scared! any ideas??? please...i cannot drop this class, because i will receive a w/f.... thanks, if anyone can help me out!! and happy valentine's day!!! :heartbeat

I don't think I could do AP online, unless maybe it was a hybrid class that met for labs..even then it would be hard! I started it this semester as well (same book too!) and I learn a lot in the lectures & labs.

Read & reread until you understand the material. Be sure to take the quizzes at the end of each chapter and if you have a CD with the book, then use that!

There's plenty of study websites that are extremely helpful for AP (one I found that helped out tremendously on my first lecture exam was http://www.studystack.com/Anatomy)

Also - maybe create a study group for your class or something? Cause I bet there are other students that are in the same boat as you!

Good luck! :redpinkhe

When I was in school-- i did my A &P at a community college and they taught them separately instead of A&P-I and A&P-II.......Anatomy was not too bad....but I will tell you I had a HORRIBLE time with physiology. The teacher we had was not regular staff and she was so bad. I had no clue what she was talking about 97% of the time! and get this.......I would raise my had and tell her ...."Okay you have totally lost me, I really don't understand at all....???"

She would say well, do you have a specific question? What specifically don't you get?" .........well I didn't even understand what she was rambling on about enough to be able to ask a question!!! LOL I told her this and she basically just was like oh well then on we go...lets do some more bla bla bla bla bla!! LOL

So I feel your pain!! Funny thing is I passed that class and have no idea how!!! I think she just realized that only like 4 people were gonna pass so she just past us all! LOL God she had to know how aweful she was!!!

Good luck and hopefully some people who actually did well can give you some pointers--there are some pretty smart people here I have learned.......

I made an A in AP I and now am taking II. But I cannot imagine taking it online. We have two seperate classes, one lab and one lecture. I do not think that I would do too well if it was online. What I can advise is to go over the material again and again. Much of AP is memorization, just alot of material to memorize! Also tutoring is helpful if your school offers it.

wow props for taking ap1 course online. i can never do that..

hmmmm taking AP online was not a good idea, the reason I say that is bc the teachers break down stuff that the book does not explain. Maybe you should go to the tutoring center at your school for help. And email the teacher and let him know what you are struggling with and what you should focus on for the quizzes. Good luck!!

Hello-

Try this site: http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/classware/selfstudy.do?isbn=0072965576 I used it all the time in A&P 1 and 2. They have some great models that really do a good job of explaining things. If you are not using the Seeley book, you may have to hunt around a bit, but their "quizzes" are great (they aren't quizzes, they are little movies).

Keep you head in the books and you will do fine!

I think Anotomy is pretty hard. We just had a chapter over atoms and cells and my teacher said it was like a semester of Chemistry (which I haven't had yet) rolled up into one chapter. I made a post yesterday or the day before about how I choked on the test. It was super hard for me and I studied like crazy. I think we can do it if we just keep pushing ourselves to study. good luck!!

I am taking A & P 1 now with the Marieb book too. I really dislike that book. To me, it's not organized well, the passages are too wordy (just get to the point), and it can be confusing.

What I do as I make my outlines from the chapters, I go online and find other diagrams or explanations that are done in a more simple manner.

i agree that the marieb book is very wordy. after reading like 1 paragraph it feels like your brain is going to explode because you have to go back and teach yourself what the author just said.

I am taking AP online, we are using the Saladin book and I am just finishing ch 4. Finally all the cell stuff and chem stuff will be over. I only got a 75% on the ch 3 test, but I honestly didn't know it that well. We have the option of retaking 3 of our tests and I was going to retake if I got less than 90, but my grade for that unit is still a 92, so I am going to keep that 'get out of jail free' card for later if I need it. And I don't think I would get a higher mark to tell you the truth. I have the coloring book by marieb and I have a hard time with that, I feel sorry for you guys with the textbook. We're doing histology next, I'm excited and nervous at the same time!

BTW, I picked up the Anatomy Revealed CD and I LOVE it! It's gonna be a great tool in a few chapters from now.
