Gee? Is that what I said or implied or is that a strawman argument?
Your beef seemed to be that you couldn't substantiate that Vance said the crazy thing not that the president actually and definitely did say the thing. That means, really, that it is either OK to say the crazy thing or you want to talk about whether there was misrepresentation. You don't want to talk about the crazy thing, you want to try to hold a member here for something that is normal from Trump and his sychophants.
It's especially impressive to me that in this modern era of Trump, who crafted a narrative of election fraud and motivated a mob of people to attack the Capitol to STOP THE STEAL that wasn't really happening, that you try to project that behavior to defend known liars.
Next comes gas lighting, I suppose.

@NRSKarenRN quoted Vance as saying "Ukraine started the war and Russia is not the aggressor." And you backed it up by saying it doesnt matter if he said it or not, its what they believe.
So yes, youu implied it's OK to make up quotes and attribute them to specific people in the Trump administration since the made up quote backs up the narrative you believe.
I hope that clears things up for you.
Back in the 70's, there was a lot of serious unrest I remember reading a comment by an idiot lefty "revolutionary" that blamed the racial violence of the time on Dr. Martin Luther King's non-violent civil rights movement. The current maga schtick around Ukraine is giving deja vu.
The battle cry of the abuser: "See what you made me do!”
In less than a month, trump has transformed the USA from a world leader into a Russian satellite.
So much for "American exceptionalism".

You, @heron, and @toomuchbaloney all seem to be on the same page.
If Trump has been a Russian asset for decades you'd think the FBI, Congress, Robert Mueller, or someone would have figured at some point before now?

Sure. That's your spin. You simply don't want to talk about the crazy crap that falls out of Trump's face orifice and then gets repeated by all manner of people, including the VP.
In the era of Trump, as evidenced by Trump himself, making up things and attributing them to others is indeed widely accepted by Trump supporters. It's just funny as heck that you are so inconsistent about that acceptance.
I am pretty aware of what is going on in this "discussion" about Russian propaganda flowing from the white house.

The Mueller report identified a remarkable and very unusual number of contacts with Russians by Team Trump in 2015/2016. It's hard for you to remember because you didn't read that report and blew it off as a hoax, remember? Then Trump had that little private meeting with Putin in Helsinki where he told the world he believed Putin over US intelligence, remember? Trump looked like a whipped puppy as they walked to the presser.
Now he's simply repeating Russian propaganda and openly conspiring with Russia to bully Ukraine into conceding to the dictator who stole thousands of Ukrainian children and violated their sovereign borders.
The Trump boys reminded us when Trump ran in 2014 that it didn't matter if the Trump company was considered high risk by American banks because they had funding from Russian banks.
Trump simply thinks that he and Putin can bully Zelenskyy to give up and then he'll be awarded the Nobel Peace prize. Bullies and war criminals are great peace makers in Trump's delusion.

Perhaps if he was an ethical person and not a liar it wouldn't be that way. But also his agenda does not align with a progressive one, so naturally pretty much all he says is going to be disagreed with. Like has been said buckle up. I endured a conversation where Biden was called "scum" so what? I'm grown and let it slide.

Fair enough. It is not okay to make up direct quotes. The internet is full of fake memes and quotes. It's hard to know what's true. I just fact checked someone that said Norway isn't supplying oil to US tankers there. Sadly we live in a day when we can't believe much.
What he said was "If you want to actually ensure that Vladimir Putin does not invade Ukraine again, the very best security guarantee is to give Americans economic upside in the future of Ukraine,”
Vance has long been anti-Ukraine and he's not a stupid man, he clearly understands that Russia is aggressor and invaded Ukraine.
At this point in time he'll dance around it but won't say it.
I've said before, since World War II Europe (and Japan) (and now Korea) has relied on the US for defense. This is a world that the US has created. We have ships and bases all over Europe, Japan and Korea and the world. We have treaties and we have alliances. Perhaps it's fair to undo this idea, put America First, and let Europe take more responsibility for themselves.
Trump is so very, very tough on Russia.
QuoteWASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration's Justice Department has disbanded a Biden-era program aimed at seizing the assets of Russian oligarchs as a means to punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.
The move to disband Task Force KleptoCapture is one of several moves undertaken by the Justice Department under the new leadership of Attorney General Pam Bondi that presage a different approach toward Russia and national security issues.
The department also ended the Foreign Influence Task Force, which was established in the first Trump administration to police influence campaigns staged by Russia and other nations aimed at sowing discord, undermining democracy and spreading disinformation. The U.S. government in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election aggressively moved to disrupt propaganda campaigns by Russia, which officials have assessed had a preference for Trump.
QuoteMarch 3 (Reuters) - The United States is drawing up a plan to potentially give Russia sanctions relief as President Donald Trump seeks to restore ties with Moscow and stop the war in Ukraine, a U.S. official and another person familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The White House has asked the State and Treasury departments to draft a list of sanctions that could be eased for U.S. officials to discuss with Russian representatives in the coming days as part of the administration's broad talks with Moscow on improving diplomatic and economic relations, the sources said
What else would Putin expect from an asset and ally? Would he expect that asset to publicly repeat Russian propaganda? Would he expect that the asset elevate other mouthpieces for the Russian government, like Tulsi Gabbard?

We can chalk this up as a win for Trump. It's exactly what he is asking companies to do. Not sure it will help the consumers of Honda as tarrifs might be offset by higher labor costs, but it will avoid tariffs and create some jobs.
Still it's down the road and parts and cars moving across borders will face higher tarrifs and in the short run buying a new car might become expensive. Even American brands have their parts made in Canada and Mexico and are assembled here. Wonder if this will be true of Honda or are all parts manufactured here.
But yes, Trump can tout this.
