Ukraine wants peace, just not to give up territory and be defeated. Who wouldn't want to end a war that's left so many dead and his country in ruins?
It's stunning to me the about face people have done because of Trump and his organizations like Fox News. Just a few weeks ago Graham posted a stand with Ukraine (with him and Senator Klobuchar which she posted on her Instagram 4 days ago) and now his harshest critic doubling down on him to resign.
It's one thing to take a different approach than Biden if it can bring a cease fire and end quicker. It's another to criticize his uniform and asking him to bow down and be more grateful and to humiliate him in what could have been said behind closed doors.
(He wore a similar outfit in front of the King of England yesterday.)
It worked. Much of America is doing an about face and turning on Ukraine, right or wrong, and Zylenski has some difficult days ahead.
The interesting thing is that during his speeches against censorship and democracy in Europe Vance criticized everyone but Russia and Putin who's been in power 20 years and blocks his opponents.
When Trump called Zelensky a dictator, he somehow is letting Putin off the hook.

Like I said, it's one thing to advocate for peace through diplomacy (although Zelensky has tried diplomacy) and not giving money to Ukraine, but this is all messed up to me in that it feeds right into Russia's agenda.

The "about face" has come because a deal was in place that is good for all involved and Zylensky wanted more.
The hysteria about the Trump "meltdown" is waaay over the top. The bottom line is while some may not like the way he acted, Trump is right. Zylensky will realize he has no bargaining power, the deal is good, and it'll get done.

I agree with the comments about Zelensky's clothing. I also would say although I think Trump and Vance had legitimate points, they really didn't let Zelensky speak or reply.

Perhaps it isn't about what ,"worked""? Perhaps the people on the planet came to their own conclusions about Ukraine? Why is everything about "it worked" or it was a "set up"?.
Tweety said:BS. Everyone knows he made up the lie that he won the election for starters, that he's a convicted felon and an adulterer, I can go on and on but people don't care and he won the election and the popular vote. That doesn't mean people don't know the truth about him just because they voted for him. They voted for him in spite of all that because of the economy, his agenda, etc.
I know, I care, and my side lost.
By buckle up, I mean you're going to have to endure criticism of Trump. No one is going to stop criticizing him or you just because it's smooth sailing for you and that he won the election and the popular vote and is carrying out his agenda and the majority thinks he's doing a good job.
But feel free to whine about the attacks against Trump, I mean criticize us and remind us he won the election all you want. It's fine you should be allowed to. It's not going to be pretty the next four years.
Whine about attacks against Trump? LOL I really don't Carre about attacks against Trump. Except the 3 assassination attempts of course.
Thank you for allowing me to. I very confident abput the next 4 years.

It is messed up, but is it surprising? Trump is Putin's best friend in the world of global politics. He proves it over and over.
Why do you suppose that is?

I'm not surprised that he wants to pull support for Ukraine financially and force a deal, but I have to say I'm a bit taken aback by the demonization of Ukraine and Zelensky.

It's the logical next step. Putin desperately needs this war to turn around. It's a major black eye for him, both at home and abroad, to have this relatively tiny country not only hold off his army for three years, but actually take territory. The performance of the Russian army has been abysmal and the North Koreans don't seem to be helping much. His only hope is to fracture NATO and stop US assistance.
The republicans party caved on their opposition to the current Russian land grab when they disappeared their 2016 presidential platform. (Not a surprise, land grabs are coded into settler DNA, after all.) They've been trumpeting pro-Russia propaganda ever since. Apparently the consensus is that it's time to escalate the war of words. Kinda like whipping out a nuclear bomb to end the war with Japan in 1945. Putin has already threatened to use nukes in Ukraine. Let's see if he or his favorite asset brings it up again. Putin can't afford this war. He can't afford to lose it, either.
Meanwhile, anybody get their "doge stimulus" check yet? According to the maga sector of the zeitgeist, they're already going out ...

In no media have I heard the word "meltdown" and I would disagree that it's over the top. It made headline news around the world because it's news not over the top.
The about face I'm talking about is that Trump said jump, and people like Graham who had already met with him in a private meeting and was in a post saying it was a good meeting and "stand with Ukraine" jumped when Trump said jump and is calling for Zelensky to resign. This despite some of Trump's lies about him starting the war, being a dictator, being ungrateful and giving a false figure of the amount we've given. All Republicans and Fox News followed suit as well. I think that's pretty powerful of Trump and kind of threw me for a loop.
Zelensky knows very well he has no bargaining power. He has consistently asked for more and more from the allies for the last three years, he gets billions and has to lobby for more, and I understand fatigue with that.
NPR put it best when talking about his upcoming congressional address "his supporters are thrilled and his detractors are dismayed".

We can agree to disagree. Just days prior it was all about support for Ukraine. Trump even in his first weeks expressed support for Ukraine. When Trump started talking trash about Ukraine and wanting compensation other people followed suit. Perhaps people came to their own conclusion after Trump made his points and they agree with him. But his statements (some of which were made up) and his supporters lining up against Ukraine has been stunning to watch.
I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you came to your own conclusions about Ukraine as well as other people and I'm not using the word "Russian propaganda" but I'd say it's a pretty accurate statement that people wouldn't have come to these conclusions on their own.
