A worthwhile read.
QuoteWhen it comes to the Trump administration's abandonment of Ukraine, however, the process cannot be attributed to a mistake—it is gleeful and openly malicious, and carries tremendous ramifications for the role of the United States in the world.
QuoteSince Trump and Vance's disastrous meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office, since aid was stopped, and since intelligence sharing has also been paused, I've found myself as the designated recipient of the grief of friends and relatives in the country of my birth.
"We have been so grateful for the years of aid,” my late father's old friend, whom everyone calls Uncle Yurchik, told me, making me flinch as I remembered Vance's brazen lies about Ukraine's lack of gratitude. "It feels impossible that a world leader like the U.S. would leave its allies to be torn apart.”
Betrayal is best served as a hot mess.

The cruelty is the point. It wasn't enough to extort 50% of resources, or to negotiate without including the leader of Ukraine.
They invited him to the White House, mocked his clothes repeatedly in front of the media, double-teamed him in a room full of cameras to scold and mock him. All that was achieved was that strutting clown claimed some sort of "win" and "good TV" , while Ukraine has bombs raining down on it.

Neville Chamberlain redux?
Did you all enjoy the new Tesla advertisement that was filmed on the White House drive and featured the POTUS reading a Tesla script?
Turns out, Trump isn't even a very good car salesman. I am not even convinced that the crazy old guy knows how to drive but he's sure that he can convince his fans (who are concerned about the price of eggs) to save Musk from the consequences of his own words and actions by buying a Tesla. The political theater is amazing.

Give President Donald Trump credit. For the first time in a long time, polls show that an increasing number of Americans believe the nation is headed in the right direction."
The message is basically it's okay that he lies, is a felon, an adulterer, makes things up on the daily, has alienated close allies, as long as he is "draining the swamp" and getting the agenda done.
I fully understand he's doing what he said he would do.
I will be happy if things go well as I'm an American and have a stake in our success.
But I still will be embarrassed by him and his disrespect for honesty and integrity and downright decency. I will forever be scratching my head as to how he got the nomination in the first place and I don't care if he has a 100% approval rating from the entire country. I'll still be scratching my head,

You didn't share your opinion of this opinion.
In my opinion, it is normalizing lying and corruption and law breaking.

$26 million from 1/21 - present day for Trump's golf needs. DOGE should be looking at that waste before they cut Medicaid, right?
QuoteAccording to a HuffPost analysis based on a 2019 Government Accountability Office report, the total cost to date for Trump's second-term golf outings is $26,127,531. The various expenses include moving his motorcade equipment and security personnel around as well as the immense cost of flying Air Force 1
That more than $26 million figure is based on 2017 costs, which are almost certainly higher today.
During his first term, Trump's insistence on playing golf at his own resorts cost taxpayers a total of $151.5 million, with Trump spending 293 days on one of his courses over those four years.
It looks like Trump is on a trajectory to spend more time and more tax payers' money on golf during this presidency.

Apparently telling lies and being an adulterer was unheard of for politicians until Trump.
Not everyone agrees he's a felon. The jury of We the People decided on Nov. 5.
The reason why Trump won was the democrats ran a champaign of constant defamation against Trump and regular Republican voters. Not to mention a very aggressive political persecution champaign that included attempting to have him removed from the ballot all together. I guess the people were not on board as much as the democrats thought. Hence their loss. Most notably in all 7 swing states.
That being said..... he really beginning to make me mad. LOL.

That other politicians have lied and have had committed adultery is not part of this discussion as we are discussing Trump.
Rinse, later and repeat but thanks for reminding me that he won the election and the popular vote and the swing states. But really I didn't forget.
Yes, he won the popular vote and the election but the voters don't get to decide that he's not a felon or those other things. He's been fact checked on his lies and he's offered no proof he won the election he lost. They get to decide to freely vote for him despite all of that. That's fair, but you can't say it's not true. You can say it doesn't matter.
There was a time in my life time that an ex-marital affair would kill a candidate, so perhaps that's part of my mindset, but I have softened over the years. When Clinton finally admitted to his affair the public decided it was a private matter between him and his wife and the public should stay out of it and he wasn't going to resign over it. But he was raked over the coals and his wife was criticized for her forgiveness and working their marriage out.
Trump took that to a whole other level by paying for her silence. But the adultery is a private affair.

Well it didn't matter to the people who elected him. So you can't say it does matter either. "Matter" is subjective.
In the current era of hypocrisy, other politicians behavior is always relevant.
He wasn't convicted of "paying for her silence".

I know that some prominent Democrats and journalists have used the Nazi comparisons and I've actually over time have posted several articles why some very intelligent people are doing this.
But in my experience everyday Democrats aren't doing this and even in a lot of races around the country politicians aren't either. Chare always asked us for grace when criticizing Republicans and admitting their faults by asking us to say "some not all".
With what DOGE is doing by wanting access given to himself and a teenager to all kinds of records, to dismantling the government, and Trump issuing questionable executive orders, it's unlikely that the rhetoric about authoritarianism is going to stop. I get this, just like the "Commie Kamala" or the socialist Biden stuff didn't stop. Someone even wrote a book about Harris's "communist roots". It is what it is. (Yes, being called a Nazi is so much worse than being called a communist, blah blah blah, and some even presented why she was called a Commie and a threat to America).
