Not only is Donald Trump set to return to the White House, he will also become the first Republican to win the popular vote in two decades. But what is the popular vote? How did he pull it off? And who which Republican won it last?

Do you want this thread to be the one we talk about his Presidency as time goes on, or is it just about his winning?

And, is it just going to be the three of us? LOL

What ever falls under 47. Thought it would be different than the usual Trump thread. LOL

I tried.

The topic "47" signifies his Presidency maybe a fresh thread to talk about his presidency over time might be in order?

I asked a friend as we were stuck in traffic "I wonder what Trump is going to do secure the border?"

I will say I don't approve of his (and Fox News) demonizing these people and presenting a dark image of them.  "They're eating the dogs and eating the cats".  They are human beings, many of them working hard for their families.  But no one wants people here illegally.  What Harris and Biden did and didn't do is not relevant.

I don't think it will be as swift and easy and he'd like, but certainly it being a priority he should get some things done.

Trump's border plan also involves leaning heavily into local law enforcement officers and military members to help secure the southern border. However, local law enforcement officials, such as Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels in Arizona, said that he is concerned with how his department, which is already stretched thin, can assist federal agents in trying to apprehend immigrants.

He has promised on Day 1 — within the first few hours in fact — to close the U.S. border with Mexico and launch the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.

Trump has promised to gut President Biden's climate subsidies and resume energy exploration, including offering tax breaks to oil, gas and coal producers.

"We're going to drill, baby, drill," Trump said in late October at his rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City. "And I will terminate the 'green new scam' and will cut your energy prices in half, 50%, within one year from Jan. 20."

Trump's main goal is to unwind Biden's policies and resume where he left off after his first term in office.

It was a witch hunt anyway.

The US Department of Justice is in talks with the office of special counsel Jack Smith over winding down the two federal cases he is overseeing against president-elect Donald Trump, according to US media reports.

I'm not sure if you'll agree but I think the agressive prosecution of Trump (warranted or not) is one of the reasons he was elected again. It's common for prosecutors to , especially in criminal cases to determine if some charges are brought forth and if some are not. Depending on the  likelihood of a conviction or potential harm to a victim. Sometimes the prosecution is not worth the consequences.

In Trump's Jan.6 case the victim was the US government, according to prosecutersvand special counsel.  Half (figurative term) of that government lost the election and the American people decided on Nov.5. in a indirect way he was not guilty. Or unfairly prosecuted by his political opponents.  Or prosecutors with their own political affiliation.

I'm not debating if he was guilty or not but I do think he was aggressively prosecuted not for justice  but to revoke power that the democrats wanted back but wanted to get rid of Trump more.

If that were the case, it back fired in their face.

I'm not quite sure I agree that this was "aggressively going after Trump" but I can see why some would say so, especially those that think Trump is a honest person and a victim.  However, January 6th and his lies about winning the election were unprecedented, and we have nothing to compare that to do call it aggressive or not, and it's reasonable in my opinion to investigate any wrong doing.  Jack Smith comes with a very good resume and I don't think he was about getting power in the hands of the Democrats. I believe he really did see issues there.

We can agree to disagree.

Yes, Democrats wanted him to go away and I've been trying for years to understand why Republicans didn't either.

Well, I guess I can see why because he won the Presidency and in term one passed their agenda,  and that's more important than him being a convicted felon, an adulterer, a liar that thinks he won the election he lost, and with other criminal charges pending.

Democrats aren't the only one's going for power.  Democrats lost but Republican are the same in that matter.

Yup!

I  did notice and was pleasantly surprised with Trump's victory speech. There were no insults and less than usual bragging and ranting. No lies either. It was void of revenge and vengeance. I was impressed.

and yet so very Trump:

"And frankly, this was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time, there's never been anything like this in this country and maybe beyond. And now it's going to reach a new level of importance because we're going to help our country heal, we're going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly."

But I do like that his speech was full of gratitude to his supporters and spoke that success will bring us together.

I can't criticize the man for his victory speech.
