Why??? Sleep interrupted nocturia post 12hr shift...

Why is it that I can work an entire 12.5 hr night shift, not stop to pee ONCE, and then when I try to sleep during day, I wake up at least 3 times to pee?

Why can't I just come home and pee 1000mL, sleep 5/6hrs straight and then get up?

I just say "I need to use the euphemism."

I was thinking for the op, that if you arn't "peeing" during the day and are so busy that you probably arn't drinking either, and by catching up on drinking when you get home you are making up for the fluid intake at night.

Lol who says urinate when talking about themselves??

Excuse me, I need to go urinate. :p

Lol! Exactly!

Of course I use the proper terms when addressing my patients, but posting on a board about something that just frustrates me and that I was just venting about, I prefer to talk like I do among friends. :)

I thought I read somewhere that your kidneys work better when laying down, Really:yeah:

Maybe something to do with that and circadian rhythm?

I was thinking about the circadian rhythm too...when I sleep at night I don't have to get up and "urinate" at all. ;)

I use micturate myself

used to be someone who lived here whose license plate said MCTR8 lol

With all of this talk now I have to go tinkle:roflmao:

Piddle?

Nocturia. Another argument for mandatory catherization at work.

I do the same even in the day. If I keep this up, my kidneys won't work at all!

Now I have to go see a man about a horse...

Personally, I say micturate.

I try to micturate at work as often as I need to.

You guys are so silly! Maybe your body is more in tune with going to the potty during the day(It's a mind thing)...LOL

Why do you say pee instead of urinate?

Why did you urinate on OP's cheerios?

I've also heard of the anxiety-pee urge circuit that occurs when the nurse brain has a chance to contemplate the True Horror of the shift just completed. You'd need to bring a pee hat home and I and O yourself to dx that one though....:-D

Thought I was the only one......

although sometimes I just say "I need to go demonstrate one of the cardinal signs of life"
