There is a current thread entitled Things that annoy me on allnurses. Members have been pretty vocal on that thread. We really are interested in your feedback. You are why we are here. You are what has helped to make the site what it is today.
We are always striving to find out more about our membership.......who you are, how you got here, why you stayed, what you want, what you like. We want to provide features and opportunities that are of interest to you. With such a large membership, we know we can't please everyone all the time But we want to provide a place that has something for most of you....and that takes a lot of different types of things.
We hope that even though you may not like some of the things we offer, some of the new things we have tried or will be trying, you will be supportive. Let us know what you like and what you don't like. But please be respectful in your communications.
To help us as we consider things in the future, please take a few minutes to answer a few questions.
1. Why did you come to allnurses?
2. Why did you stay at allnurses?
3. How long have you been a member?
4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc
5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?
We want to continue to be the voice of the nurses as we all strive to raise the level of our profession. We thank you for your input!
Thanks to all of you who have provided some great feedback/suggestions by answering the survey questions. We will be reviewing all of this and will take your comments into consideration. Please keep the feedback coming.
I see that a few of you have been chatting about other things; please be careful not to take this discussion too far off topic.
Siri rocks, although I feel like I am giving her gray hair and heart attacks. Her gentle "chiding" PMs and reminders to calm the **** down (not in those words, of course) are precious. I really like her and feel like a toddler when I upset her.
Nah, Farawyn.
Just eating a few TUMS.
(and, I like you, too)
1. Why did you come to allnurses?
Was researching something in/around 2000, allnurses.com popped up, and quickly left the site w/o signing up because I had no desire to join a "chat" site. I never looked it over at all.
2. Why did you stay at allnurses?
allnurses kept coming up when I'd do searches on certain topics so came back sometimes in 2005 and ended up joining that June, realizing that I had missed out on a wonderful site the past 5 years.
I discovered it was more than a "chat" site. It was, as I learned, a phenomenal site created by a Nurse (Brian Short) who impressed the heck out of me.
I quickly learned that the participants were real people with real Nursing issues. I saw these Nurses discuss their work environments and how they handled certain amazingly difficult situations with courage. I saw many wanting to get into the profession who were given great advice from these same real Nurses. I saw Nursing issues being discussed, solutions being suggested that made a lot of sense, and some drama that made me giggle and shake my head. LOL! (and, I have to admit ... I still giggle at a lot of it now :) )
I developed a rapport with many who welcomed me with open arms to the Break Room, which remains one of my favorites (the Good Morning Thread comes to mind). I do NOT debate politics and NEVER venture over there unless ya'll make me. That's when I have to break out the TUMS. :)
I was impressed with so many of you and there is no way on earth I can name you all. I think you ALL know who you are. I sincerely appreciate you and love interacting with you publicly as well as privately.
3. How long have you been a member?
10 years this month.
4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses?
Pretty much, the members. So many of you all ... when I see you have posted, I read what you have to say. It still impresses me after all these years. I love my AN family which includes the Members, AN Guides, and Staff.
I want to thank you, Brian, for bringing me on as Staff when you did. To this day, I cherish that position. You have truly made me feel a part of a huge family.
I came to all nurses when I started nursing school. This site really helped me when I was a nursing student. It provided an outlet for me to vent, ask questions and advice and I still have a flash drive that I created with formulas, lab values and ways to help me remember what to do for some disease processes. For example what to do for chest pain. Morphine, aspirin, oxygen and nitro (Mona). Also, as a result of this site my daughter also joined.
I stayed because I enjoyed the different topics and forums that are on this website. They have a forum for almost every part of nursing such as BSN, MSN, nursing students, LPN and etc.
I have been a member since 2005.
What I most enjoy about this site is that it provides so much information for everyone. It doesn't matter if you are a CNA, nursing student, RN, a male in the field or retired. This is a wonderful site.
Maybe a bully button or a way to let someone no there comment was disrespectful. I have seen people ask a question or maybe its their way of venting but, whatever the question is no one has the right to be disrespectful. Yes we have freedom of speech but, if I don't like a post I will either keep scrolling or if I feel a response is needed, I always ask for clarification and I really put a lot of thought into what I am going to say because I want to provide positive feedback not negativity,
I came here to ask questions about being a nurse, I was maybe halfway done with it and thought about dropping out. I was depressed and crying at that point. I thought I wasn't cut out to finish school and be a nurse. Hence, my name neurotic student. I was a nursing student when I started here. I stayed because I still have questions that come up, and I'd search threads for info. I also like to find other new threads posted that sound similar to the situation I was in back then and share my experience with them. There was one time I didn't sign in for a long time and when I finally did, I saw that I received a message from a scared nursing student asking me about my experience. I responded, but I was sad that I didn't respond in time, I don't know if she even read my reply. What if she gave up hope and stopped coming here to allnurses?!
I enjoy the popular threads listing and the nursing insights emails that I get. I think I like those because it gives me the opportunity to browse a little of topics in different categories without me having to click and search in those categories. It simplifies things for me. It allows me to participate here without doting too much of my time away clicking here and there.
1. Why did you come to allnurses?
I think I was working on a case study for one of my online nursing classes and stumbled across AN
2. Why did you stay at allnurses? some posters here are so hilarious. It's great comic relief sometimes at the end of a long day!
3. How long have you been a member? 5 years?
4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc I rarely read the articles, I admit it. I'm mostly just a "read what catches my eye" type of gal!
5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses? I know it's hard, but weeding out the obvious trolls, like the NON nurse woman from the UK that flooded AN with her opinions of how C-sections should be done here. And the latest one: you know, the nurse/sex ed instructor/chaperone/ski bunny dude who's stories are incredulous, to say the least. Also, I am REALLY not a fan of complete and admitted non-nurses (or students/CNA/MA/etc) creating posts to figure out why they rec'd the treatment they did, or to kvetch because some random nurse was rude to their Mom during her hospitalization. Overall though, I love AN and 97% of what's here!
I actually just signed up a few days ago. I have done many searches for one medical reason or another and Allnurses shows up as one of my options. I have read a few of the posts and I always thought they were interesting, and so I finally joined. I have enjoyed all the topics, and have commented on a few.
1. Why did you come to allnurses?
I was seeking more information to anything and everything nursing related.
2. Why did you stay at allnurses?
There have been many great individuals who have provided thoughtful insight into so many topics. Plus, I need something to do on my study breaks other than watch reruns of my favorite shows.
3. How long have you been a member?
I'm entering all of this on my phone, and don't want to lose this post while trying to see that information. I think it has been a little over a year, though.
4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses?
I like the trending topics (on my phone) because I can see the most recent threads. Except when they are related to PVT or camming.
5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?
I think there should be a minimum number of posts that new members have to have before being able to create a thread. That could eliminate a lot of the one-time posters who are here to troll others.

I'm taking it slowly. I'm still laughing about the Clint Eastwood / Danny Devito thing.
