There is a current thread entitled Things that annoy me on allnurses. Members have been pretty vocal on that thread. We really are interested in your feedback. You are why we are here. You are what has helped to make the site what it is today.
We are always striving to find out more about our membership.......who you are, how you got here, why you stayed, what you want, what you like. We want to provide features and opportunities that are of interest to you. With such a large membership, we know we can't please everyone all the time But we want to provide a place that has something for most of you....and that takes a lot of different types of things.
We hope that even though you may not like some of the things we offer, some of the new things we have tried or will be trying, you will be supportive. Let us know what you like and what you don't like. But please be respectful in your communications.
To help us as we consider things in the future, please take a few minutes to answer a few questions.
1. Why did you come to allnurses?
2. Why did you stay at allnurses?
3. How long have you been a member?
4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc
5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?
We want to continue to be the voice of the nurses as we all strive to raise the level of our profession. We thank you for your input!
I came to All Nurses days after retiring from a 40 year nursing career. Prior to retiring, I was part of a national nursing organization in the US. I enjoyed learning from colleagues and discussing the differences in nursing due to geography. I googled registered nursing and found the site. Currently, I believe I can share with younger novice nurses and possibly be of help to them. In addition, the site can help keep me up to date with the latest nursing chatter in the break room.
1. Why did you come to allnurses?
I came because I am on my way to nursing school and I wanted to be a somewhat silent member of a community with experience so that I could ask questions.
2. Why did you stay at allnurses?
Fantastic articles and threads, real life conversations, and comic relief now that I'm working on the floor.
3. How long have you been a member?
Sept 2014
4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc
The 'reply' and 'quote' features for comment threads actually work really well in keeping discussion distinct.
5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?
I just read what I get in email or off facebook so I'm not too sure.
I came to AN like so many others did. I had a patient with a condition I wasn't familiar with and for any of you who know me even a little, you'd know that just can't stay that way! I used a search engine and key words looking for a way to educate myself and wouldn't you know? AN was the first result returned. After that I looked for other topics that related to my work and soon became totally ensnared. I've been a member for 14 of my 20 years of nursing; I was asked to join the staff in 2006 and here I am!
The site has grown and changed over the years and I think it's only gotten better with time. Our membership is diverse, engaged and so willing to share of themselves. I love the variety of forums we offer and know we've all helped countless nurses overcome obstacles, deal with problems, grow and excel. And we're nice people...
One thing I would change if I could is that ALL members would read the Terms of Service every once in awhile to remain familiar with what's allowed and what can't be allowed. It would make the moderating staff's work easier and help us avoid offending members by being viewed as heavy-handed. But I'm okay with doing whatever needs doing, here and in my paid job.
I'm so glad AN has become the largest, most comprehensive and friendliest social networking site for nurses on the internet. It means we're doing something right!

AN needs CEUs!
1. Why did you come to allnurses?
I wanted to share my wisdom and knowledge with nurselings as well as gain some myself from those more experienced as me.
2. Why did you stay at allnurses?
People here are so dang funny, I love to virtually stalk threads, there are a lot of experienced nurses up here (as well as students) that I am starting to warm up to and grow fond of. And the popcorn of course.
3. How long have you been a member?
Like 2 weeks?
4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses?
Learning about different personalities that can be found from nurses all over, and getting to know some pretty great people.
5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?
I don't feel I've been a member long enough to have any discrepancies quite yet. However, I'll revisit this topic in a few months.

(Disclaimer: I am responding without reading any comments first.)
This is fine. Your answers on this thread should be based on your personal story as to why you are here. And if there are duplicate ideas, comments......that is fine too. Actually, hearing the same think from multiple members will give us a better idea of what we're doing right and what changes people want.
I came to allnurses years ago as a CNA to find out the requirements for becoming a nurse. I shared information on how to obtain your CNA license for free. I will now be starting my first semester of nursing school this fall. I'm hoping to find support and information from other nursing students and nurses since I am very nervous about starting the nursing program. I like the variety of opinions and the diversity that this website has. I'm still learning how to navigate and really utilize the website but I am enjoying it so far!
I came to allnurses through a search link regarding vaccinations. I am not a nurse however. I am into natural remedies, vitamins and organic whole foods, but, I was happy to see allnurses does not endorse all vaccinations and used the reference in another forum. I joined to see other health advice and information.

Just an FYI: we don't give advice here. It's against TOS to give advice.

That's awesome! I know I've seen you around here 😊
I stumbled onto Allnurses back in 2010, but finally joined in 2012. I'd been fighting with my ego about trying to balance school with work and ended up failing or dropping more classes than I signed up for. I landed myself on academic probation with a 1.6 GPA.
But I had goals. So I kept my nose the the grindstone at work until I felt ready to get back to school. I consulted allnurses on how to go about preparing for my applications and yadda yadda...
With the help of AN, I got my life together and I'm now starting my program in the Fall 😎
I even found myself a place on the Dean's list.
At this point, I'm addicted as well. It's great to surround yourself with so many unique folk who share a common interest
