Why did you come to allnurses? What made you stay?

Published

There is a current thread entitled Things that annoy me on allnurses. Members have been pretty vocal on that thread. We really are interested in your feedback. You are why we are here. You are what has helped to make the site what it is today.

We are always striving to find out more about our membership.......who you are, how you got here, why you stayed, what you want, what you like. We want to provide features and opportunities that are of interest to you. With such a large membership, we know we can't please everyone all the time But we want to provide a place that has something for most of you....and that takes a lot of different types of things.

We hope that even though you may not like some of the things we offer, some of the new things we have tried or will be trying, you will be supportive. Let us know what you like and what you don't like. But please be respectful in your communications.

To help us as we consider things in the future, please take a few minutes to answer a few questions.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

3. How long have you been a member?

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

We want to continue to be the voice of the nurses as we all strive to raise the level of our profession. We thank you for your input!

I came to allnurses through a search link regarding vaccinations. I am not a nurse however. I am into natural remedies, vitamins and organic whole foods, but, I was happy to see allnurses does not endorse all vaccinations and used the reference in another forum. I joined to see other health advice and information.

Lol. Used a reference in another forum? I'm sure if you searched the topic of vaccinations you will find it is a hot topic, especially here since this is a nursing forum. AN is not pro or anti anything, I don't know where you got that from. AN endorses nothing but nursing, it is the users who bring up different topics.

:) O I see. I did give some "advice", and no the posts did not show. So, that's why :) Appreciate the comments, ty.

Except we don't give advice to posters, as is clearly spelled out in the TOS. And you will find that PLENTY of nurses that post here fully support vaccinations. As a non-nurse, this may not be the ideal forum for you.

Most certainly not your role here...

You're probably right. :) have a nice day.

I'm really curious which post you thought was supportive enough of the anti-vax viewpoint that it became share-worthy elsewhere.

I hate to admit this, but I actually came here to read about the PVT. I was an LPN for many years, and I really wish I known about this site while I was a student in the bridge program.

1. Why did you come to all Nurses?

I was looking into returning to nursing after being on disability for many years and wanted input from other nurses.

2. Why do you stay at all Nurses?

Honestly, I have not yet been able to return to nursing yet but being here has done two things. First, it gives me hope that it will still happen. And second, it is the one place that I still feel like a nurse. I feel like I still have a lot to offer the nursing profession. I'm just having a difficult time figuring out how to do that given my physical limitations. Maybe being here will help me figure it out or accept the alternative.

3. How long have you been a member?

About 18 months, but lurked long before that.

4. What do you enjoy most about allnurses?

The variety of people and topics. I love hearing different points of view on topics. Just learned about the blue side. Gonna have to check it out.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to all Nurses?

Can't think of anything right now.

I just joined this month because of a friend (also a nurse) who is on here.

I stay because it's great to see I'm not alone with the issues I've seen & still see every day.

I too would like to see a place for case studies.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

Allnurses was suggested by my pre-nursing advisor my first semester of college.

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

The plethora of information. Allnurses is great for anybody in any stage of their nursing career. It helped me SO MUCH during nursing school. I appreciated the assistance with assignments, support as I studied for the NCLEX, the job hunting/interview tips. I was given a realistic snapshot of what nursing is like: the good, the bad, the ugly. I felt more prepared for the nursing world because of allnurses.

3. How long have you been a member?

This account: 1 year. I had an account before, which was created in 2009, so technically 6 years.

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

The humor threads! And stories :) especially from the experienced nurses. Since I am on an ICU floor I really like ICU Faqs, too.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to all nurses?

Just some technical things. The app isn't very user friendly (freezes, is slow, difficult to navigate through). I wish I could edit some of the older posts I created - I always notice mistakes WAY after the cut off time given to edit.

I came here because I was looking for information from people that have same experience like me. And thank God I found the information I was looking for.
