Why did you come to allnurses? What made you stay?

Published

There is a current thread entitled Things that annoy me on allnurses. Members have been pretty vocal on that thread. We really are interested in your feedback. You are why we are here. You are what has helped to make the site what it is today.

We are always striving to find out more about our membership.......who you are, how you got here, why you stayed, what you want, what you like. We want to provide features and opportunities that are of interest to you. With such a large membership, we know we can't please everyone all the time But we want to provide a place that has something for most of you....and that takes a lot of different types of things.

We hope that even though you may not like some of the things we offer, some of the new things we have tried or will be trying, you will be supportive. Let us know what you like and what you don't like. But please be respectful in your communications.

To help us as we consider things in the future, please take a few minutes to answer a few questions.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

3. How long have you been a member?

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

We want to continue to be the voice of the nurses as we all strive to raise the level of our profession. We thank you for your input!

I found AN through googling about admissions to my nursing school. I have continued to stay because of all the drama that goes on. It never fails, someone will post a question or comment and someone (or many others) who doesn't agree will shred them to pieces and the drama will go on for days sometimes. Gotta love it! Thanks AN:)

Thanks! I can't indeed send you my huge message (sorry in advance :p) but I saved it and I'll send it to you when I'm able to do so ;)

1. I know it was because of Google...I think I was searching nursing programs.

2. Because this place is such a wealth of knowledge and I can come here and have people who actually understand what I'm going through or what I am feeling. AN helped me through nursing school and has helped me through my career!

3. Gosh...since 2006 or 2007? So that's 8-9 years! (I was also under a different name when I first joined)

4. As I said before, the wealth of knowledge!

5. I honestly cannot think of a single thing!

Is it ok to answer a few months old topic???

Is it ok to answer a few months old topic???

If relevant then yes. If to bump up a topic to intentionally cause controversy then no. If not sure start a thread in the admin help desk and inquire directly with site staff

You can always start a new thread of your own.

I guess it's the best solution because I've had a question especially, not the one I talked about in that topic in my mind for a while. I'll have to think about it before I wouldn't want it to be misunderstood and I'm not english native, makes things a bit more complicated

There's a plethora of threads on all sorts of topics. You could probably find your answer there. If it's outdated, I'm sure you would receive some more recent, relevant feedback if you did decide to start a thread.

The thing is it's a overly contreversial topic and I'm torn between two feelings:the fact I do not want to start anything that would look like a war between professionals on the one hand and patients on the other side and the fact my question is genuine. That's about dark humor, controversial topic as it is.

If it's controversial, there is probably a thread about it already. But tread cautiously when you post about it. Some posters can become very passionate, and you'll usually have people on opposite sides of the spectrum.

The perfect storm.
