There is a current thread entitled Things that annoy me on allnurses. Members have been pretty vocal on that thread. We really are interested in your feedback. You are why we are here. You are what has helped to make the site what it is today.
We are always striving to find out more about our membership.......who you are, how you got here, why you stayed, what you want, what you like. We want to provide features and opportunities that are of interest to you. With such a large membership, we know we can't please everyone all the time But we want to provide a place that has something for most of you....and that takes a lot of different types of things.
We hope that even though you may not like some of the things we offer, some of the new things we have tried or will be trying, you will be supportive. Let us know what you like and what you don't like. But please be respectful in your communications.
To help us as we consider things in the future, please take a few minutes to answer a few questions.
1. Why did you come to allnurses?
2. Why did you stay at allnurses?
3. How long have you been a member?
4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc
5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?
We want to continue to be the voice of the nurses as we all strive to raise the level of our profession. We thank you for your input!
MaudeK, a few more posts and you will have access to PM's. I would really like to help you; I believe I can give fair feedback and help/coach you on hopefully a relatively inoffensive way to put what you are wanting to say.And if I can't, I'll tell you that, too. But I very seldom get huffy or weirded-out, so I'd be a safe person with whom to bounce the idea around.
The reason I feel comfortable in making this offer is that I have encountered many people from all over the world in my 66 years here on earth..... At college, at several large city hospitals, and other circumstances. I have friends, acquaintances and co-workers, past and present, who hail from many places originally: Ghana, Barbados, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, China, Vietnam, Great Britain, Germany.
For instance, my manicurist is Vietnamese. I've been going to her for 8 years, and she's been in the U.S. maybe 15 years. When she hears or reads a word or expression she doesn't quite "get" she will write them down and when I come in for an appt, she always makes sure to get that list out. We both do a lot of "What?". "What-what?", and it makes us laugh a lot, too. But together, not at each other (well, except in the way that friends do!).
All this to say: PM me when you get access to it and I'll help you figure out a way to put what you want to say. Doesn't matter to me what it is about, I promise.
Thanks for the offer! :) I certainly will take it as soon as I can.
If it's controversial, there is probably a thread about it already. But tread cautiously when you post about it. Some posters can become very passionate, and you'll usually have people on opposite sides of the spectrum. The perfect storm.
I've already read some topics about it and they seem always really passionate indeed and I'm pretty sure it'd be the perfect storn and I'm not here to rile people up. To complicate things more I'm not english native and I'm totally able to use a word that could be taken the wrong way.
I'm a first semester ADN student in Dallas, TX. I came here for advices on the HESI. As an older student, I am finding out with sadness that, more than critical thinking or nursing skills, I am required to master taking standardized tests.
In regards of this Web site, other than the job postings and linkd to them, this place sounds like a venting blog for complaining. Don't get me wrong, I honor your struggle, I'd just like to see a little more balance in the postings.
By the way, if anybody knows where I can find practice questions for the HESI for 1st Semester Concept based curriculum, even if I have to pay for it, it would be highly appreciated.
Happy journey!
I came here because funnily, I had written down the site address for future when I would be starting my journey as a nurse. Just recently I was sorting out my box of notes and things when I spied that note I had written over a year ago! So here I am:)
i am staying here for a chance to have bit of support from other nurses/students, since I am a distance student. I think I need it, as well as want it YAHAHA! ...
I have only been a member since last week.
I like the community it holds and the fact how its a place you can talk whatever is on your mind to mature/funny/helpful people that make your day.
Not sure what needs to be changed just yet as haven't been a member long enough to really see.
I'm just thankful to be here and hope to build connections and have a great life before I am qualified for the awesome RN.
1. Why did you come to allnurses?
I came across this site while I was searching for some informations about Nursing school on yahoo.com. I didn't even start Nursing school yet. So while searching I click on the allnurses link and I found some really good input from other students.
2. Why did you stay at allnurses?
Because it is really useful, even when I was studying for my nclex exam I used this site to find out how other students studied and what helped them to become successful on the nclex. I really love allnurses.com.
3. How long have you been a member?
I have been a member since 2010
4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc
I really enjoy the articles, I enjoy other people posting about their own experiences as a nurse and I learned a lot from them. I even use it to find out where I can purchase my scrubs and to find out what is the best shoes to wear as a nurse. I also use allnurses to find out what school to go to for my bsn based on various comments from other nurses.
5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?
So far I don't have anything that I would like to be changed but I would like to know if its possible to have an email address from all nurses; that will be very cool to have an email address like ([email protected])
I'm an aspiring nurse. I happen to stumble upon this site, and have really enjoyed reading many of the threads. I've posted a thread or two, and everyone has been so helpful. I look forward to gaining more insight on this career through so many of you who have already gone through this journey.
#5. I really wish people that have no business posting were not allowed to. Patients, hiring personnel, etc. if you're not a part of the NURSING care team, this is not the site for you. Also, continued and repeated inflammatory posts by the same posters over and over is tiring. It'd be nice to see them banned, you know, like was done to grntree.
