  1. Unless you are working psych, it serves no purpise to do r o groups. They were a pita when I was in school and I'm glad I learned hiw to do them. In my 12+ years in mental health, I ran a few hundred. Thanks for your share.
  2. I have not seen it live. There is some very compelling documentation on YouTube if you are interested. Thank you for asking.
  3. Thank you for pointing this out. Iam new here and navigating the ins and outs of the site has challenged me. A slight organic brain issue also hampers my style. But I'm here, I'm alive, I'm happy.
  4. Or, give me the fricken epidural. Lol. I agree. I have seen this.
  5. We do what works and no two nurses approach a given issue the same. I applaud you for doing something. It is disheartening to watch someone do nothing. Thank you for your comments.
  6. Here's the deal. We do whatever works. Tricyclics, MAO inhibitors, serotonin uptake inhibitors, lithium salts. Our endocrine systems are taxed by environmental poisen and stress hormones are like male urethras, they don't know if they're coming or going. I like the writings of my good friend Dr. John Gray. His Mars/Venus work has opened us up to taking the reins and coming up with our own answers for our woes. Gender brain chemistry is controlable. That is to say, you ultimately control the release of oxyticin, serotonin, testosterone, and other hormones through interaction with the environment. I can give you a list of 100 ,things to do that will increase your oxytocin and his testosterone, and you won't spend one red cent. John Gray doesn't pay me fir promoting his ideas. He pays me with knowledge. The man is amazing. Only Harry Potter has outsold John's books.
  7. I don't get it?
  8. I agree. These groups should be un in a psych milieu environment. In your case, that is cruel and unusual punishment. Thank you for making the distinction. Your comments are appreciated.
  9. I just have to jump in here. Let me preface my responses with my opinion that nursing is not a female dominated profession. I write again, NOT FEMALE DOMINATED. I have almost 30 years working in the field. 27 years licenced. If you going to be successful and accepted in nursing, get off the gender boat. There are no gender lines. We are all professionally trained health care providers that out into action proven scientific principles. It doesn't matter what gender you're born with. If you are a nurse, you are a nurse. If you start categorizing colleagues by gender, well, you might as well add sexual orientation to the mix, right? No! Now your questions, #1 I became a nurse because healing is in my dna. My grandmother was a curandera, some say witch, I don't. She healed. My Relatives from South Dakota are andvwere venerated Medicine Men and Women. It was destiny. #2 I have ZERO reservations. Every colleague is my equal. Period. Don't forget that all humabs start iff as female. That's right! We are both genders until our dna decides what we get assigned. Stereotypes are sociological prejudices. They exist inly if you guve them power, I do not. #3 Nursing science is geared towards learning scientific principles and theory. Gender is not a factor that determines how well you learn what is taught. #4 Discrimination hapoens every where and in all circles if the human experience. Was I ever treated differebtly? Yes. Were my civil rights violated? Never. #5 Help is not gender based. I ask whoever is available. Sometimes a male presence us needed abd vuce versa. Cautious is not the word I would use. Prudent works fir me. Prudence is the undustry standard. Protect yoyr self at all times. Male or female. #5 a. I would like to add that my favorite part of being a nurse was that I was able, in many instances, to show the women how to do it. In my humble opinion, in my experience, I did the job with a little more compassion than my female counterparts. I was especialky proud of one patient evaluation that read " I would like to thank Joe for giving me the most discreet bedbath, and only bath offered, during my six day hospitalization". Leave it to the guys to show the girls how to do it. Thank you fir the chance to express what I've wanted to express for many years. Have a great career as a nurse, no gender please. Do what you've learned and yiu will have no problems. When you get to the bare essentials, we're all equal.
  10. Go natural. If you're not allergic to it, 3 cups of camomile tea a day. I am a Certified Hypnotist, former nurse retired, and I do Spirutual counseling and intuitive work. My sense is that toxicity is an issue. Yoga is a great idea. Breathing exercises. Probiotics. Meditation. Go to You Tube and learn a little self hypnosis. I think this will benefit you most. Personal message me anytime. I'm here to help. Good luck.
  11. All dried up now. Shall we move forward and concentrate on the issue? Thank you.
  12. Good luck with resolving conflict in the home.
  13. Is this my ex pretending to be Farawyning? If not, I do respectfully request intelligent mindful responses. Battling wits with an unarmed person just isn't fair. We're trying to give insight to a sensitive topic, relationships. I aooligize if I touched a sensitivity. It was not my intention. Peace.
  14. Your husband has deep seeded issues, but he's your husband, and You must love him. Why else would you tolerate such nonsense? My ex didn't want me to be a nurse. Thus, my ex. Be gentle and reassuring and keep the harmony intact. In my humble opinion, this request is not one I would concede. Yes, marriage requires sacrifice. Some people like being controlled. I personally do not like that. Good luck.
  15. Welcome. This is an awesome forum. Direct, honest, insightful. Careful what you ask, you will get an answer. Lol. Enjoy your new job.
