I know that there is trouble with BOTH sides.....but generally...which "group" makes your job more stressful?
The patients, or the other employees themselves? How so?
Patients= family, visitors, etc.
Employees= ANY of the staff
did you know that if you light a match as you 'pull that finger', it combusts into a big blue flame???yep.
seen it and laughed til i peed myself...
probably because he burnt his ________ in the process.

hahaha i would bet that pagandeva's husband would stifle his pleas to pull his finger if such a match was lit just once.

it would sure solve my problems if his ass would blow up just once... (ain't i mean...)
i pick coworkers...although i'm pretty sure it's me with the problem.
i just cannot overlook substandard nsg care, and go nuts when a coworker doesn't aspire to the same set of standards.
pts and families don't bother me.
sure, they can drive me nuts, but that comes with the job...
so i am psychologically ok with it.
just have never been able to accept avg or

Amen Leslie! I cannot for the life of me understand why incompetence is acceptable, either to the individual or to management. There are a couple of day nurses who I routinely follow "need a strong nurse to take over from them to clean up the mess". I'm all for the compliment, but it's becoming increasingly frustrating to be the clean up crew every darn shift.
I got dinged on my eval last year for "expecting too much of coworkers". My response was that I don't expect any higher standards from others than I do from myself, and it's not my fault if mediocrity is all that others aspire to. Unfortunately, that did not win me any points.
I love most all of our night shift staff, there's only a few who are weak and lazy. Days is another story entirely however, and I often feel like bashing my head against a wall when I come in and see who I'm following.
Patients and family members come and go (okay, sometimes they do come back again), but sucky coworkers are forever (or at least they seem that way).
It would sure solve my problems if his ass would blow up just once... (ain't I MEAN...)
yeah, well...it's not the ass that got burnt.
he burnt his 'falls' (rhymes with...)
and the look on his face when he got burnt...
he started whacking his 'falls' to put the imaginary fire out...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
so not only did i get to enjoy a pretty blue flame, but also the comedic panic of 'joe'...
oh gawd, 30 yrs later and i still laugh til i cry...
(time to break into a chorus of "memorieeeeeeeeeeeeees"...)

me too, mama...about getting dinged on my eval about the very same thing.
it is so very frustrating to work and have relationships w/people whose goal is to only get by.
anyways, i'll stop here before i start rambling.
i had a bad day today...there are some very mean, hypocritical folks out there and i'll never get used to it.
it was really good to see you posting.
you should have seen my smile, when i saw your name.
and, doesn't surprise me in the least that we think so alike.
hope to see more of you.

It depends on the day, but mostly I'd say coworkers. The vast majority of them are great, no issues at all. Some have their, ah, quirks, but I can deal with it. One or two, I simply cannot stand to follow....their entire day is a mess, and then I have to come in and spend the whole first part of my shift cleaning up the mess they left me. We have one HUC that if she never worked another day, I'd rejoice. Too many reasons to count, but today I watched her put a call on hold (from another unit) in order to finish arranging all of her paperclips, pen cups (that she brings in herself), adjust the computer screens....after a good minute gets back on the phone and goes "thank you for holding" and I was just thinking, ARE YOU SERIOUS, did that just happen??
The rest of the day I can't even go in to here. It was definitely "Yell at Cherrybreeze" day, all day long! Nurses in other depts, doctors, etc etc. SO SO SO glad i'm off the weekend.
hmm.....id have to also say coworkers....i like my coworkers as people...but when it comes to any type of organization whatsoever they are pretty lacking, there is a huge habit of passing the buck at the drop of a hat.....my patients have reason to be pains as most of them cant help it . as for families, ive had some pretty awful ones but.....ya learn to deal with them better...chances are you will deal with that family longer than with a coworker.
No one as soon as they stay balanced. As soon as one of them start to kuku in his/her mind... right the way... the troubles are in the air....lol
Patients are ok... as much as they don't want eternal youngness and hapiness without to bill them, lol
Coworkers the same... are perfect as soon as they are balanced and don't start to show up them selve as good as they are comparing with others and how much they deserve what they have now or deserve more than they have now... make my crazy this attitude
All are ok if are balanced minds
