I know that there is trouble with BOTH sides.....but generally...which "group" makes your job more stressful?
The patients, or the other employees themselves? How so?
Patients= family, visitors, etc.
Employees= ANY of the staff
Pagandeva, lol! My dear brother tried this on my sister-in-law, until she told him if he did it again in on purpose, she would let her leg hair grow so long she could braid it. My sister-in-law fixed in her first week of marriage what my parents had been unable to fix in over 18 years :)
Well, patients can be a pain, but the difficult co-workers only make the job of caring for patients all that much harder. It's the sullenness of so many co-workers that I find difficult to deal with. Sour faces, sullen attitudes, poor communication abilities -- it seems almost impossible at times to have a really good morale and a positive sense of teamwork.
It' seems, at times, on my unit at least, that everyone wants to be an island unto themselves. Once they're done with their work, that's it -- they seem to want to sit and surf the net, get on their cell phones, or whatever -- and you are alone with your own troubles. Many co workers just seem very self centered. And I feel the job of nursing really demands teamwork or it's too hard. That is the problem.

God bless your sister in law. My husband tried today, but I picked up some mosquito repellent and told him I will get rid of that pesky finger tonight.
I love my colleagues; they are fun to work with we have great teamwork.
I cannot say the same for patients because it is hit or miss. Some days we have wonderful, normal people. Other days we have the crazies come out...the kind who say..."I don't understand why I have (any) pain....um...helllo...you just had surgery...?

i am fairly ok with my coworkers, we are like a little family on my unit. some patients can be a little anoyying. visitors can definately drive you crazy and sometimes they increase the patients anxiety.
