Who is GENERALLY more of a "PAIN"?: Co-workers OR Patients?

Nurses General Nursing

I know that there is trouble with BOTH sides.....but generally...which "group" makes your job more stressful?

The patients, or the other employees themselves? How so?

Patients= family, visitors, etc.

Employees= ANY of the staff

There was a time when the biggest pain was a co-worker(no work ethic, passing gas intentionally--yeah that always blew me away how anyone could consciously do that--no pun intended-- then she'd laugh and walk away, saying "take THAT", being very insubordinate) but now she's long gone.

oh.

my.

gawd!!

kinda gives "gone with the wind" a whole different perspective.:lol2:

I'd have to say the co-workers. To try and take care of patient needs takes a collaborative effort and sometimes, they make the process even worse. When I know that I have to go through a jack orifice to get things done, I am already sick to my stomach. Then, I have to deal with the patient complaints after I had to deal with the said orifice.

Nothing my Alzheimer's patients do bothers me. They have a disease that is eating their brain. Whatever they do or say is appropriate to that. Co-workers! What's THEIR excuse!

lol wow! are you sure we aren't talking about a patient?

seriously? a co-worker? was she serious..or kidding? lololol omg!!!

oh, she was indeed a co-worker and i am serious. she was very disgusting; was in her 30s but acted like in her teens. between obscene burps and the gas-passing she was just so obnoxious...and obscene. (accompanied by another nurse and myself years ago, prior to cleaning a female patient's peri area, she proceeded to announce to the patient "mrs. x, i am going to clean your s----- now.":uhoh21::nono::angryfirei was absolutely in disbelief.) she was very different--on one hand she would preach her jehovah's witness faith to anyone and everyone(including patients)and then act so unprofessional on the other. i've never known anyone who could consciously produce large amounts of gas when she wanted to to punctuate some smart-aleck comment she wished to make.

I would say co-workers are the worst... at least patients eventually get discharged home.

no i was not laughing at the time at all(in the case of mrs. x) .i was so blown away by her behavior(again, sorry for the pun--ok maybe not too sorry--:mad:)--well we did laugh in total disbelief when she passed gas and walked away rather rapidly saying "take that!" which she did quite often. she was a cna, not a nurse but that shouldn't excuse her behavior. she'd been at the hospital for 5+ years, left to do agency work, returned to the hospital as an agency person and when she started acting up then it was easier to get rid of her. she was protected by the union from very much discipline when she was an employee of the hospital.

And she didn't ask you to pull her finger??

I don't have a problem with coworkers, niteshift, but I do with dayshift. They come in with attitudes. And noses stuck in the air.

Of course there's miss "leader" who keeps the pot stirred.

:yeah::lol2: HAHHA Oh Len, no, she didn't ask us to pull her finger...imagine that.:uhoh21::rolleyes: Guess she wasn't as witty as she could've been.....:uhoh21: She did have us laughing at some of the things she said and did---but it was more out of shock than anything else.

I'd love to create a discharge summary for quite a few of those buggers, myself...and to the road of no return.

My husband plays that trick on me every now and then...pull his finger and then, spreads his toxic gas of love... I don't get how I always forget his intent.
