My coworkers and I were recently having a discussion about social platforms. I love social, so I have an account and pretty much every platform there is. My coworkers, on the other hand, have accounts usually on Facebook and maybe Instagram. I’m curious, where do you hang out? If you’re on a lunch break do you scroll through Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter? Vote below. I can’t wait to share the results with my nonsocial friends lol

Your post and your survey question seem to ask 2 different things. I was ready to click Facebook until I saw "nursing related content." I don't go on FB for nursing related content. But then your post seems to be asking what we go on for leisure in our downtime/time off.

I very much enjoy allnurses.com I am always interested in the student forums and how nursing education has changed over the years. I also enjoy reading about other specialties and how we all work together to get the best care possible for our patients.
I belong to several NP FB groups. However, I have left several also because:
1. Non-nurses join for medical advice
2. Supposed NPs post for diagnosis and treatment options
Even the groups I stayed in, are for the most part incredibly unprofessional. Social media should not be a place you go for treating patients....period!
That said, I use Doximety quite a bit and I follow several bloggers who provide solid research proven papers that utilize EBP. I also follow and am followed by people on LI which again I use for professional info.

I thought the same thing. Facebook is for keeping up with family and friends who aren't local. AN for nursing related content, as well as the message board of my specialty organization.

I did use LinkedIn pretty frequently during my job search, but otherwise I stay off of all of those things, whether for nursing or personal pursuits.
I do find some delightful nursing memes on Pinterest, and I come here for the lively discussion and humor. That's about it.

I swore off all social media platforms over 8 years ago and have never looked back. Sweet freedom.
AllNurses is the only online community I belong to.

If I am surfing, I may check sales sites, All nurses. If I want nursing info, I may go to WHO, the State regs, ANA, peer reviewed articles, IHI, etc. I don't socially play on the internet. I don't enjoy or have time for that sort of thing.
Lunch break? What's that?

I don’t use any social groups except for allnurses .However, I can appreciate how platforms like Facebook allow someone to get more diverse perspectives. They can be used as a starting point and then sources like UpToDate can help validate information.

For both social and for nursing related content, it's chat forums. Forums like this one here at AN, some online book discussion groups done in forum style..........etc etc.
FB. God, gag me already. People are still using that? lol
I hated FB from day one. Still waiting for everyone else to catch up...........lol.
