What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

My mother went to a cafe and the waitresses name was Female, pronounced Fa-mall-ee. Apparently her parents were from another country and thought the hospital named their baby when they put female down as the sex of the baby.

how about the parents who named their son adolf hitler? ....remember the skier peek-a-boo street--her real name.

ms. street's name is "picabo", but you're right -- it is pronounced "peek-a-boo".

Had a teacher in HS named Pinkie.

Worked with an Enjoli--guess her parents saw the commercials.

Had a little girl as a patient named Truth.

Have taken care of men named King David, and women named Queen Esther.

My daughter's names are Nevaeh (heaven spelled backwards) and Zariah (prononced like Mariah but with a Z) I am proud of their names and although one might think they are unsual..and maybe they r... I love them and they are beautiful names to me. They are african american angels and a person's name should not define who they are. It's really what's inside that counts.

Your daughters' names are lovely, but one of the things we've been saying is that Nevaeh is not an unusual name anymore. In fact, it's a very popular name right now. My postpartum unit and our NICU have care for many babies with that name.

I'd bet money they meant 'Nevaeh' and simply misspelled it.

We've got another 'Genesis' right now. Ick! I just don't get it.

I'll tell you where I think "Genesis" came from. The story is similar to "Gage".

"Gage" was a paramedic on the 1970s show "Emergency" and people who watched it as kids remembered the name, liked it, and gave it to their sons (and probably a few daughters as well).

"Genesis" was a character on MTV's "The Real World" and I would imagine that is where it came from. She was notorious for leaving really terrible philosophical notes around their house which she dubbed "Genesisisms." :clown:

Edit: The following will be inevitable: girl/boy twins where Baby Girl A is named Genesis and Baby Boy B will be named Revelation.
