I've been considering long term care as an RN. How much can I expect to make per hour in the USA?

Thanks for your responses! :)

All depends on what part of the country you are in. Try posting in your state. 23-24 hr for experienced staff nurse around here.

hi

depends in what part of the country you work and also the state you work in--even for that matter the part of the state you work.

for instance, the pay scale in chicago-which is in the northern part of illinois is much higher than downstate.

sorry i can't help more.

just remember that when you have a higher rate of pay you will probably have a higher cost of living.

Thanks Mary Ann and Michelle! :)

I'm in Southern IL where the pay is low, but the cost of living is HIGH...IMHO. :o

Two years and I make close to 24 an hour...I don't know what the others make because I don't ask and I don't want to know!

In Indiana I made $20/hr as a new RN and after 2 years made $25/hr but of course I was the MDS Coordinator. I am now in Florida and was just offered a job making $20/hr which is a cut but I am going to be a staff RN...which is not too bad but I am use to making a certain amount of money bi-weekly. Oh honey, I've been having a LOT OF senior moments lately. :rotfl:

here in Connecticut at my facility LPN's make 21 an hour starting . The RN's I work with make 28 starting . And we have some here that work only per diem that make 35 an hour . But always keeping in mind that the cost of living here in Connecticut is ridiculously high!

We max out our LPN's at 21 to start and 23 for RN's to start....3% raise each year...and our cost of living is SKY HIGH!!!....but they add on shift differential and extra pay for being "charge".

In delaware..wilmington you start out at 26 and the weekenders get 50/hr

LTC RN's make $28.00/hr here in lower manhattan.

Cost of living is super high.... :(
