I Just Got Hired At A Renal Clinic
Thanks for the reply...I was saying that it is a Renal Clinic like a doctors office except it is part of a big hospital.

Question about endorsement
I believe that everything will work out just fine. The DUI is over 15 years old. And as far as the second situation that is understandable. I would be more worried if that event didn't bother you at all. I am wishing you the best and goodluck with your move. Towanna RN

I Just Got Hired At A Renal Clinic
I just got hired at a Renal Clinic at first I thought it was in dialysis but it is not. It is a M-F with no weekends, holidays, and no on-call. I am so excited. I have been looking for a position like this. I have been working for the past 8 years in LTC and I am looking for any advice as to is there anything that I need to brush up on? I have been told that I will have to obtain an ACLS Certification and Chemotherapy Certification. I have six months to complete obtain them. Are those classes hard? Thanks in Advance for any advice. I would like some advice
Hello everyone, I am wanting to ask a question about mental health nursing. I have been offered a chance to work with mental health patients as a charge nurse on a 10 bed unit. I will be the only nurse and have two mental health techs. It is a new stabilization unit. I have no psych experience except for the few resident that you get in LTC with behaviors. I am wanting to know if it is hard to work with mental health patients. I know that the facility provides training and a 5 day floor orientation. Although I will be the only nurse on the unit, I will not be the only nurse in the facility there is another unit with 3 nurses. I also have the option to take a PRN position but I will not be eligible for benefits. I was going to take the PRN position and get a feel for it and then take the charge position but there is no garantee that it will be available. I can work days or nights doing the charge nurse positon....what do you guys think? Oh yeah the pay for the charge nurse position is 19.59/hr for days and 23.59/hr for nights. The PRN is at 24/hr with extra for shift diffs. Keep in mind I have no experience but is that the right pay for a position like that. I live in Florida. Towanna:uhoh21:

"Just an LPN"....does anyone else get discouraged?
First off let me say that those types of comments are awful. I am a RN and I would never make a comment like that. As a matter of fact I have a sister who is a LPN and a very good nurse. I believe that as stated earlier all our positions compliment each others. I get very offended when I hear someone say "I am just a LPN" or "She is just a CNA" and so forth. I am a RN with an Associate Degree. And let me tell you the BSN nurses are quick to let you know that they have a BSN and what trips me out is that we learned the same things except my classes were harder and compact. When I was in school I heard BSN students say the the ASN program was to hard and intense because we had to learn things faster and every thing was together. I am happy to be a nurse and that is what I feel we all are nurses and should be proud. The only difference is our paychecks.

What's the going hourly rate for RNs in LTC in the USA?
The facility I left in Indy did understaff alot and boy did it piss my off. I have went on several interviews since moving to Florida and let me tell you...They can not be understaffed or they will get dinged. I was very happy to here that but I did not know of the new law here in Florida till I went to a couple of interviews and found out. That was a perk in itself.

Is it Ok for a male nurse to have a beard?
Yes I think that it is okay to have a beard, mustache, if neatly trimmed and well maintained.... Towanna

Male Chest Hair and Scrub Tops
I am sorry ladies and gentlemen but I think that a t-shirt should be worn by men if they have excessive chest hair that will show thru a v-neck scrub top. I also think that women should wear a t-shirt if they are full busted as to not flash everyone they encounter...lol Towanna
