I am looking for advice on the dream job. I am 3yr nurse and have worked primarily in family med/procedural nursing straight from school. I feel like I have a dream job, I currently work as a nurse (wear all hats) at a private practice who model is direct primary care (no insurance, monthly fee to the doctors only). I love my job and feel very luckily but there are times where I am itching to be more of an urgent setting (past hx of ocean lifeguarding/EMT). On the other hand I could see myself in the long term at my current place of work, specially for when I start to have a family.
Currently:
M-F 830am-5pm,1 hour lunch (Downtown in a Major city)
Salaried paid, around the hospital pay.
2 weeks paid vacation, Bank holidays, 2 days off during Christmas, Thanksgiving and New years.
Company paid total insurance/dental/vision
Yearly bonus, paid license and CE's
Small office, no hierarchy or over head, Teaching/training time from the doctors, patients are pleasant, Flexible time off.
So what do people think, am I crazy?

I wouldn't be in a hurry to walk away from that! Good jobs are few and far between in nursing. If I had such a cushy job I'd probably still be working, whereas the stress and working conditions were so bad in the hospital I quit and retired early.
You can read all about the problems in hospitals and nursing homes here on allnurses. I'd think twice before walking away from such a sweet gig!

My inpatient dream: No more than 4 patients in M/S, plenty of CNA's, an LPN assigned to every RN. A "provider" on every unit full time for collaboration.
ED dream: 1 Emergency Services Tech per 8 rooms, minimum. More would be better. (All phlebotomy certified a plus!) Two or three "zoomers" on at the designated busy times. Usually from 11 am to midnight or so. 1200-0000 would work.
End of stupid "Mission Statement" emails from upper management.

I am semi-retired, but I don’t want to stop Nursing completely. I work PRN now, but the shifts are 12 1/2 hours. At my age, that is a long day, and I hate getting up at 4:30 in the morning to be there at 6 am.
My dream job would be two eight-hour shifts a week, any days of the week. My shifts would start at 10 am. I would also love to work from home!
