What will YOU do with your first "real" paycheck!?

as inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....

what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?

i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!

then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!

i can't wait!

I just got into a BSN program and will graduate in 2007...so quite a long way from now but 'I have a dream' :)

When I'm a nurse it won't technically be my first paycheque because I was working as a 'busboy' in a restaurant for years while I was doing my pre-reqs ...but it will be my first paycheque of my REAL CAREER as a nurse, if u know what I mean... and I will make more than the minimum wage!!!

1. Colorcopy and frame it

2. Cash it...then donate some(the library sounds great, also UNICEF, Red Cross, etc...)

3. Give some to my parents, as a thank u for raising me and let me stay in the house for so long

4. Buy myself whatever I want at that time

I think first paycheque will only cover just that

Then will others following...I wanna rent my own place to live (move out of my parents' house), go on a Caribbean Cruise and a Europe trip with my friends, buy a whole new ward robe, and go on a full-day spa, etc... and the list goes on :chuckle

I know they sound wishful, but with those thoughts in mind, they are what keep me going...they will be my motivation (and of course, I always wanted to work in Health Care).

Good luck every one!

I'm going to save some money and get my own place.

With the first check I will get part of my sign on bonus so with that portion I am taking my family (including Mom and Dad) to Schlitterbahn (waterpark) in south Texas and will begin the tedious process of repaying student loans. I have figured if I can devote one whole check a month to that I should have those taken care of by November. Then it will be save, save, save for a new car and a family vacation in summer 06 to Disneyworld (land) whichever is in FL. I have to purchase some scrubs and new shoes with that first one too! The second check that I am get I am going to take my Mom and myself to somekind of spa for a day of "beauty" and true relaxation............ :)

I too intend to make a color copy of it and frame it right along with my diploma and other honors stuff that I got in school like my hat that I decorated, Clara Barton award, and Spirit of Nursing award.

Hope everyone has fun spending their first check!!

I would like to do everything that was mentioned before I even got to post this:

But....since I have been taking every single dollar I had (have) while attending school to pay rent/bills/necessities, when I get the first big check, I am not paying one bill....I am going to the mall and do some shopping. I have to shop for 4 of us...and after all of the struggle I am going through to get to that point...I am going to enjoy 90% of it....the other 10% will be to gas up the car so I can get back and forth to work to keep the money coming.

My dad promised me a new car for the day of my graduation, so that is taken off my to do list.

Then I will recover and make arrangements to start paying all of the companies who are on my credit report so I start qualifying for things I want/and need. I can't even rent an apartment unless it is privately owned and they don't perform a credit check...so I have to straighten that out.

I know I can't wait.

I just want to apologize to you Bevi....I reread this post this morning and that is NOT how I meant that to sound!

How about this....

Bevi, no need to correct yourself! We get enough grades that we shouldn't have to worry about mistakes here!!! :)

Again, I am sorry for how that must have sounded to you!

We're not..she corrected herself :)

I was not aware we were being graded here!!!

Who is we?

I was correcting a spelling error I made when I wrote my post!

Like many, I already work full-time, so it will only be a pay raise, not a "first" paycheck so to speak. Probably just step up payments on the house, and get it paid off quick. Don't owe anybody else. Might buy a new tractor, and will probably start looking at purchasing some tracts of land in my hometown. They're not making anymore of it.

Probably build another dragster, and just keep my current race car as a backup. Probably buy some lawnmowers and put my brothers boy to work in the summer mowing lawns. Got ideas for a new house, but we'll see.
