Licensed Esthetician wanting to become an RN...Pls HELP!!!
When they tell you your bill for the semester, write them a check. End of story. If you want to do it bad enough, you'll get a job while you're going to school.

wanting info on rose state rn program
I missed with 132, got in next time with 136. High pass rates for NCLEX there. It's about the same as any other nursing school...they all seem dysfunctional.

Back home in Oklahoma

Being denied employment because of a credit check :(
So you send the mortgage company $10,000 so that you can save $3000 in taxes? That's still $7000 in the hole by my math.

Rose State? wondering if im on the right track
If you're doing beginning track..it's pretty competitive to get in. I got in with 136 points, but that was a few semesters ago. They have a pretty good NCLEX pass rate. Most in my class passed with 75 questions.

Soon-to-be RN looking at hospitals in OKC area
I have a friend who works in Normans ER, and she likes it. She's contract though, so she doesn't worry about their benefits. I wouldn't be too hung up on retirement benefits from one place over another. You need to be doing your own retirement anyways. Roth IRA's, mutual funds, etc. Now if they give you some dough for 401K, by all means take it. Where I work kicks in 4% if I put in 5%, so that's cool. But over 5% goes to my Roth. Of course Norman is close to you, as is Moore Medical Center. They are also building a new heart hospital at 240 and Sooner in a couple years. I hate driving so the closer the better for me.

Best and Worst Clinical Sites
Mercy and Baptist were both great places, everybody was extremely helpful and willing to explain as they went. Also had a good experience at Midwest City, there were 2 guys there who were great teachers, and one even changed his schedule to make sure he was there when we were.

Had my first doctor scream at me today
I'm kinda curious to see if they try to yell at me. If I make a mistake, and they can teach me to be better so be it...but if they try and yell at me, i'll probably ask them if they'd like to try and yell at me away from work and see what happens. I'm not above goin' to the dirt with somebody.

LPN's Are Lower Class People?????
I'm a new RN, and I don't care what they're initials are....I just need somebody who has a clue when I have a stupid question that needs answered. They do the exact same work as the RN's, with very few exceptions. Many that I know have went the LPN to RN route, because it was quicker to get into RN school that way.

Did ETOH help?
Got tuned up on Saturday night...in bed at 3:00a Sunday. Up at 10:00, laid on couch until noon. Went to Chili's and Wal-Mart, watched Daytona 500, did 108 questions out of Kaplan, went to bed, up and took NCLEX. Shut off at 75. Called today, and found out I now have a license. Did the good drunk clear my mind? The worrying before the test is far worse than the actual test. I felt pretty good when I walked outta there.

Vent: I absolutely HATE stupidity! Not ignorance.....STUPIDITY!!
I wear a 3" wide 5-point harness, wear a multi-layer nomex firesuit, nomex gloves, a neck collar, and a SFI approved helmet. I drive a car whose chassis is certified every 3 years, has SFI approved wheels, SFI approved shields on the transmission and under the oil pan, as well as many other approved items all in the name of keeping me safe as I drive almost 176mph down the track. yet, the most dangerous time is when some clown in a small car pulls in front of our 80 foot long rig on the way to the track, and thinks we can stop it as quickly as they can. When you see big trucks, or vehicles hauling trailers, please be courteous of them, and allow them plenty of space. 80 foot long rig into the back of your Civic will negate any benefits of your seatbelts.

Innapropriate comment at CODE?
Laughter is a coping mechanism. Different people cope in different ways. Stop me from having a laugh, and I will be the biggest *&$%head you have ever met. People who want to write everybody up for every little thing are the real causes behind poor working environments, not people who crack a joke or have a good time while working in a crazy environment. Was it inappropriate? Only the starter of the thread would know, they were the person there. If the persons family was in the room (doubtful) then yeah, it was probably out of line. If it was only the code team...then in no way was it inappropriate. (in my eyes, that was a pretty tame comment, I could think of faaaaaar worse. )

What if I can't make it?
Nobody is going to hunt you down and kill you if you don't pass. If you don't pass a class, so what. Take it over. Some people don't even have the opportunity to fail a college course.

What are you ??
Drag Racer who just finished school, and waiting to take the NCLEX-RN I guess

Help! Money! In a pickle!!!
You have a bachelors already in another field? You're wanting to take a student loan for living expenses? I don't think I could jeopardize the financial security of my family to change careers. Stay working in your current field while you lay the groundwork for a more prepared push which involves no loans. You cannot borrow your way to prosperity.
