What will YOU do with your first "real" paycheck!?

Published

as inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....

what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?

i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!

then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!

i can't wait!

Specializes in Nursing Assistant.

I know a first paycheck won't cover this...but I am getting a new car!

I just finished my 1st semester a month ago. I have a 1+hr commute to and from school...my car broke down THREE times in 16 weeks!

Pay my tithes, start a vacation fund, take the family out to eat, grocery shop!

Put some into my savings' for my own place and furniture and wedding, go out to eat with my boyfriend, and tithe. Hopefully, all of my credit cards (ya know, the ones that supported me during first and second level) will be paid off. I'm a shopaholic, but nursing school has put a huge damper on shopping. I don't want to go crazy when I start making real money. I'll keep living like I'm poor until I've secured my job and saved up enough to begin my life as a grown up. Lol.

Two words: Shopping spree!

:D

Good question!

First pay off car loan and/or credit card debt.

Then invest the rest! :specs:

I'm going to go on a mini shopping spree for myself and my children and maybe hubby ;) and then I'm getting cable TV. Money has been tight with me going to school so one of the things that went was the cable. No more DVDs for a while lol I can't wait!

Pay off the cards, house and student loans. After that:

ROAD TRIP! I want to hit as many states as I can, then rent a cabin in Yellowstone.

For my actual first paycheck? A new dress and a really nice dinner with the family.

Save it, I need a new car

1) Pay off the credit cards and hopefully start to restore my credit score. Per diem work does not pay those off well.

2) NEW CAR!

3) Treat my parents to something really special. They've been an amazing support system.

4) Fill the fridge with stuff other than "can I eat this running to class" foods.

Hmmmm realisticly I will probably just like to go shopping and buy myself some new stuff. I also would love to take my kids shopping and actually buy them a toy and some stuff. I also want to take a family vacation when I graduate, see the ocean that Ive never seen and let my babies play in the sand :) while me and my husband relax in the sand and sun

I will thank God for bringing me through. I will probably buy my sons some clothes and shoes and a cool toy they want. With the rest, pay off some bill and start saving the rest towards a home.

Well.... I still have some big plans for my first "real paycheck" which will hopefully be soon if I pass my boards at the end of the month . But I did graduate almost 3 weeks ago and I just ordered myself the cricut cake as a graduation present to myself :yeah: I am soooo excited to have time to make cakes again and I needed to tell someone lol.... Thanks for listening Allnurses! You Rock!!!
