as inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....
what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?
i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!
then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!
i can't wait!
I'm going to stare at it and kiss it and cry and shout! Then I'm going to treat myself to the spa, get my nails and hair done, get a new wardrobe and buy my kids and my boyfriend nice "thanks-for-your-support" gifts. After that, my student loans shall die! I will be paying those bad boys back with a vengeance and saving for a down payment on a house, purchasing a new car, emergnecy fund, and our first family trip to DISNEY! I will aslo be preparing to come and get down with my Masters. Now when I get THAT first check (because I'm planning on going for a CRNA-- and that means I'll be making that "GWAP"), all I can say folks is that, It's going down!!! We are just so blessed! Press on!
To be honest I will cherish it because Iwill have waited over 2 years just twp get it. I will not waste it and it will go straight to paying off bills, especially my loans for schoolas inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!i can't wait!
i will pay my tithes, put a good chunk in savings, and take a mini overnight vacation with my husband and 2 little girls (maybe a them park). i will also start paying extra towards my student loans. then it will be time to really get to work looking for all the overtime and extra assignments that i can get!!! will also be thanking god for my accomplishments that he has blessed and guided me to gain!

2. A year's supply of contact lenses (the REALLY good ones)
3. Fix my G5 Computer
4. Get my wisdom teeth pulled and cavities filled, and teeth bleached
5. Pay bills
6. buy a gorgeous 1950's party dress
7. Get gifts for my folks
8. Nails done, hair done, etc
9. Buy a REALLY nice pair of shoes.
10. Decked out custom hoodie
I'm going to get my hair did! I haven't done anything but get it trimmed and dye it at home for 2 years! I'm jumping into team beach body/shakeology to attempt to lose weight. We're also getting an above ground pool that first month! Just before that will be catching up those bills! School has been a sobering reality for our finances.

You're getting the biggest first paycheck EVER.
This is a very interesting exercise Gets me excited.
Since I don't have any mortgage to pay...
For my first salary:
1.) Give 10% to charity...either to a church or a foundation.
2.) Buy a new car under a reasonable loan. I really would love a Blue BMW 3-series sedan (a starter in BMW line) but am very open to other cars with better gas mileage. We currently have one car.
3.) Start a basic portfolio in the stock market for long-term investment.
4.) Offer a share in the household expenses. (groceries or cable bill)
5.) Send my sister allowance for college.
