What type of RN do you wanna be?

Published

I was just thinking about what type RN I would like to be and just wanted to hear from other NS to see their ideas. I think i wanna be a OR nurse or maybe labor and delivery. Just wanted to hear others thoughts :redbeathe

Specializes in MICU - CCRN, IR, Vascular Surgery.

I've been a nurse intern in a pre/post cardiac cath floor this summer, and I've also spent a few days interning on a cardiac critical care (post open heart surgery) and cardiac stepdown floor and I would really love to end up being a cardiac nurse :redbeathe

Specializes in Med-Surg/urology.

Hospice nurse..I think what they do is so meaningful & important.

One that doesn't kill anyone, lol. Seriously, I have no idea. Anything but OB. I'm thinking oncology or ICU.

I wold like to be a NICU, labor and delivery, or pediatric nurse.

The most autonomous kind possible.

Specializes in Emergency/Cath Lab.
The most autonomous kind possible.

Love the name btw

I am barely in my first semester of NS so i know it most likely will change...but i have always wanted to be a CNM, work in the ER, L&D, and most recently I would love to become a Lactation consultant after having my RN for a couple of years.

I love this post and reading about everyone's goal. I start NS next month, so I'll narrow it down in clinicals, or change my mind altogether, but right now, I'm interested in trauma, NICU, and L&D.

I haven't had any nursing experiences yet so it's hard to say what type I would be intreseted in. If I had to answer it right now I would say I would like to hear more about critical care/ICU. Some day I would like to use my talents and be able to help low income areas/clinics with the care that they need. I feel this most rewarding.

Specializes in CNA, MedTech, Phlebotomy.

Because I spent 3 months in the NICU with my own twins, I would love to be a NICU nurse or PICU. I feel that having been through a hard time with my twins I would be able to relate to parents on a level that not many nurses in this area can do.

Specializes in ER, progressive care.

Critical care (SICU/MICU) or some type of cardiac stepdown unit. Critical care was one of my favorite nursing classes. Very challenging and overwhelming but very interesting!

Unsure of becoming a Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Anesthetist..I'm sure,I'll figure it out as time goes by in school :)
