What type of RN do you wanna be?

Published

I was just thinking about what type RN I would like to be and just wanted to hear from other NS to see their ideas. I think i wanna be a OR nurse or maybe labor and delivery. Just wanted to hear others thoughts :redbeathe

Right now, I'm leaning towards pediatrics or pediatric ER. We have a few peds-dedicated ERs in my area, so hopefully I will be able to find a job there.

I always wanted to be a pediatrician...but I am not sure if I still want to work with kids as a (nurse). I am going to decide when I finish my clinical rotations, that way I'll know what I like to do :)

In my perfect world I would like to work in the labor and delivery floor of the hospital after receiving my RN. Several, several years later after my husband and I have been able to work and travel a bit, and later have our child, I would like to go back to school and get my masters and work as an OBGYN Nurse practitioner.

I am a trauma junkie all the way! It's always changing and the staff that works in that unit HAS to be team oriented. Fast-paced and a ton of learning opportunities everyday. I'm all about the trauma!!!!

My second choice is to get in with an ENT clinic and work on cleft palate babies. My son was born with a complete bi-lateral and it's very interesting to see such a huge role the nurses in that position take on. From educator, to running the cleft palate clinics, to being the circulating nurse in the OR....that role is hugely diverse as well and I know that she is very busy too!

Right now I'm really thinking surgical or pediatrics.

I would like to work as a NICU nurse, and eventually get my master's and become a Neonatal Nurse Practioner, and then get my ph.D.

or i would also like to be a pediatric rehabilitation nurse:)

I am really having fun reading all of the different responses."Employed"... that was funny!! Thanks for all the input!:yeah:

I was thinking L&D before starting ns, but now I am thinking OR. I fully realize that I may have to do MS for a while after graduation to get experience, and that is ok by me too.

I hope to start off working in women's health( like an OBGYN's office) , until I get my masters degree in public health. Then, I would like to work in a community health setting that focuses on patient education and prevention ( like planned parenthood).:redbeathe
