What are the top 5 medications YOU administer daily?

Published

I want to read about medications that are nornally given by nurses, what do you normally deal with on your floor? I'm hoping to see a common drug list, but who knows...

Thanks.

Specializes in Psychiatric.

Like all the other Psych nurses out there, my top 5 would have to be. Ativan, Zyprexa, Risperdal, Klonopin, and Depakote.

Although we give more common drugs too, like Novolog Insulin, Metformin, ASA, Propranolol....

Percocet, Motrin, Tyleon#3, Senna, Colace

Synthroid, Metoprolol, Lovenox, nitropaste, Simvastatin are probably the top 5 non-insulin meds we give on my Medical Telemetry floor. There are other favorites, but these are probably the top ones we give that it seems that EVERYONE gets.

Eighty percent of our patients are swingbeds. Docusate, zocor, coumadin, zantac, lortab (all strengths). Also albuterol and atrovent nebs. We don't have RTs on nghts.

Excluding pain meds, I'd have to say: Colace, Senna, Zocor, Metoprolol and Calcium+D. Oxycodone is probably our most common narc. Sub-acute rehab.
