What do you think of dictators worldwide using Coronavirus lockdowns as an excuse to consolidate power?

The people of Serbia have risen up against their strongman autocrat leader Aleksandar Vucic shortly after he declared a new lockdown there:

Serbia Protests Meet Violent Response in Europe’s 1st Major Virus Unrest

Brave heroes in Serbia for sure. If Democratic Party tyrants in the U.S. seek to emulate these de facto house arrest sentences against the populace, I think there'll be a massive Uprising here, too. Americans are not going to put up with Faucism much longer.

Only ONE party in the US is causing such discord over centuries use of infection control practices used during a pandemic: stay home as much as possible, minimize gatherings, wear a mask when outside home and unable to maintain social distance, wash your hands often, especially upon returning home.

Those communities that fail to understand/follow-thru suffer the fate my beloved Philadelphia area went through in 1918.

I know which 2020 presidential candidate wears a mask when out in public supporting public health efforts to control COVID-19 spread and prevent death of citizens ---- and which one is having mass rallies greater than 25 people.

I've known of Dr. Fauci, following his medical advice since early 80's while caring for AIDS patients. In 1990, my Alma Mater Neumann College bestowed on him an honorary Doctor of Science degree. So Faucisim has survived many decades.

It seems that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighther.. ?

If memory serves you weren’t overly impressed by the Black Lives Matter protests? Protesting racism and having a minority among the protestors engaging in looting and general unlawful behavior is bad, but attempting to storm your country’s parliament is good and makes you a hero?

I’m not sure I understand your logic here.

That's right: The Democrats. They have used the Corona as a pretext for imposing totalitarianism on us.

What's the survival rate for this Corona? 98.5% or more? Some fate to suffer through. We don't have any immunity so we're all going to get this Corona sooner or later.

BTW, autocrats like Idi Amin, Elena Ceausescu, and Robert Mugabe all got honorary degrees. It doesn't mean anything. Fauci - given his abject failure to find some cure for this Corona - should have been fired a long time ago.

The last thing America needs is an unelected bureacrat with a Napoleon complex who's been in the same job longer than most Americans have been alive dictating what we should and should not do. If America is not doing great, it's because he failed and lost whatever vestige of influence he had in the process. He's to infectious disease what Mike Brown was to FEMA during Katrina. Hopefully enough Americans blow off his diktats and defy them to a point where Trump fires him or forces him to retire.

Democratic Party tyrants...... Faucisim.....? Say what now?

I just cannot understand the anger that is directed to someone who has used his education, skills and experience to help this country through this tough time. Be thankful he's here. And show a little RESPECT for the man. We would have NO ONE speaking up, trying to help us with safe conduct through this if it wasn't for him.

Fauci deserves about as much respect from us Americans as Italians owe Mussolini respect for getting the trains run on time. But hey, at least Mussolini got the trains to run on time. Our infectious disease head honcho sure blows at getting rid of infectious diseases...

That is why HIV and Ebola continue to claim so many American lives, right?

What part of "novel viral infection" do you not get?

May your NP Advanced Physiology and Pathophysiology course will help you better understand infectious diseases and treatments than what you've posted here.

Long Before COVID-19, Dr. Anthony Fauci 'Changed Medicine In America Forever

  • 1970s helped develop a cure for vasculitis
  • changed approach to the HIV/AIDS clinical trials
  • 1987 NIH developed AZT -first antiretroviral treatment of HIV; AIDS no longer death sentence.

My much-shortened summary of some of Dr. Fauci’s accomplishments from the article “How Anthony Fauci Became America’s Doctor: An infectious-disease expert’s long crusade against some of humanity’s most virulent threats” By Michael Specter April 10, 2020

Since his days of advising Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, Fauci has maintained a simple credo: “You stay completely apolitical and non-ideological, and you stick to what it is that you do. I’m a scientist and I’m a physician. And that’s it.”

He learned the value of candor early. “Some wise person who used to be in the White House, in the Nixon Administration, told me a very interesting dictum to live by,” he told me in 2016, during a public conversation we had at the fifty-year reunion of his medical-school class.

“He said, ‘When you go into the White House, you should be prepared that that is the last time you will ever go in. Because if you go in saying, I’m going to tell somebody something they want to hear, then you’ve shot yourself in the foot.’ Now everybody knows I’m going to tell them exactly what’s the truth.”…

… Dr. Fauci graduated first in his class from Medical School at Cornell University in 1966 when every new physician was required to perform some kind of military service. He got his first choice, and ended up at the National Institutes of Health, which was then establishing itself as the country’s primary center for biomedical research…

The first disease Dr. Fauci discovered a cure for was vasculitis—an inflammation of the blood cells that often occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own blood vessels. vasculitis patients suffered from rare inflammatory diseases, such as granulomatosis with polyangiitis, which damages blood vessels in the lungs, kidneys, and other organs. The disease was almost always fatal until he discovered how to treat it.

Dr.Fauci [and his team] followed by discovering treatments for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and transplant rejection.

In 1981 Dr. Fauci began working on discovering how to treat AIDS, which he was certain was caused by a virus. He wrote a paper in which he pointed out that, although the disease “seems to selectively affect a particular segment of our society,” it demanded a medical solution. Moreover, he warned, “any assumption that the syndrome will remain restricted to a particular segment of our society is truly an assumption without a scientific basis.” The paper was rejected, BUT he was making progress in the laboratory.

His lab was the first to report that B cells became hyperactive in patients with aids. When a healthy person is invaded by a virus, antibodies mount a defense, but, when H.I.V. hijacked B cells, the antibody system went awry. Fauci and his team had identified one of the crucial features of AIDS. By listening to “Act Up” and other AIDS activists Dr. Fauci and many fellow researchers succeeded in making HIV a chronic illness and no longer a death sentence. *

* In the 1980s, during the height of the AIDS epidemic, Dr. Fauci worked with activists to amend the way the government handles clinical drug trials. The policy shift increased the number of patients who had access to experimental HIV/AIDS treatments — and saved countless lives.

I’ll stop now, but what Dr. Fauci achieved during the Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama administrations saved many lives.
