Maybe there aren't poor diabetics living in conservative utopia...

At least when poor diabetic kidneys fail, the gub’munt will cover the cost of dialysis. I surprised conservatives haven’t monetized that.

That seems right.

Actually, that is the monetization. Dialysis tech was largely developed on the public dime. I worked at a public hospital that participated in that and had one of the first outpatient hemodialysis clinics in the country. As soon as dialysis 100% covered by the government, the hospital obligingly closed their facility and let the privates take over the market.

Yes, it does. However, I notice that the defendants in that case all looked gobsmacked in their photos. As if what they did became criminal all of a sudden and no one told them. Kind of hints at how violence against black men is normalized in certain communities.

Do you think at some point conservative lawmakers will determine that the government needs to stop supporting this industry and let the free market determine the cost and who will pay? Or maybe decide there is an age cut-off?

Not if the industry has anything to say about it.

I guess it all depends on where conservative loyalties lie.

I tend to think that the most we can hope for is that when private industry appropriates government-developed technology or anything else, that they pay a fair price for it.

I think that if we become socialized medicine, or even if the US remains privatized, I could see cuts to some services (especially dialysis and related), especially in relation to age and specific health condition/comorbidities. I wonder if it will be politically driven, as much as economically. It's scary, as it could be any disease or comorbidity as chosen, which could lead to any of us or our loved ones not receiving care

That is not true in other countries.  We also could SAVE a lot of money by eliminating paperwork:

$375 billion

The United States health-care system wastes an estimated $375 billion annually in billing and insurance-related paperwork that could be saved if the nation moved from a “multipayer” health coverage system to a “single-payer” system run by the government, a new study says.

Health insurance coverage paperwork wastes $375 ... - Single Payer …

www.singlepayernewyork.org/2015/01/17/health-insurance-coverage-paperwork-wa…

Hospital parking lots would probably shrink by 20%.   The lawyers would lose business also because prices are set on malpractice cases - no court cases..just flat rate pay-outs depending on the damage done.  A whole layer of middleman administrators and insurance companies would be eliminated freeing up more money for workers and hospitals.  Not perfect but better than the hell we have created for health providers today.

Former President Donald J. Trump said on Monday that the F.B.I. had searched his Palm Beach, Fla., home and had broken open a safe — an account that, if accurate, would be a dramatic escalation in the various investigations into the former president.

The search, according to two people familiar with the investigation, appeared to be focused on material that Mr. Trump had brought with him to Mar-a-Lago, his private club and residence, after he left the White House. Those boxes contained many pages of classified documents, according to a person familiar with their contents.

Oh boy... this must be another first.

Watching live coverage on Youtube. Fox talking heads are exploding. There are serious concerns about violence, at least at Mar a Lago where a crowd is gathering fast.

ETA: I wonder what trump’s former business associates think of all this.

Especially the partners he hosed in Atlantic City and all the contractors he stiffed.

Not to mention long-time residents of New York City.

Trump is the one breaking this news first?

LOL...that should tell you something.

Trump-haters are about to be disappointed yet again.
