Dude better get better lawyers. I wonder if he’ll be charged with perjury.

In a way, I feel a bit sorry for him. If he was my patient, I’d ask for a psych consult. I can imagine how betrayed he feels - he was just imitating his betters, after all.

To repeat a liberal proverb: freedom of speech does not include freedom from consequences.

While I continue to hear congress members complain about the price of gas, I saw at least one station today had regular at 3.99/gal; diesel at 4.39/gal.

I filled up today. Still 4.59ish is my area. I wish it would come down

There's not much incentive for oil companies to lower prices.

Yes, he should have.

Jones has no intentions of stopping the plaintiff's lawyers from handing Jones' text messages to the January 6 panel, according to The New York Times.

The Times reported on Friday that Judge Maya Guerra Gamble said she would not prevent lawyers representing Sandy Hook parents from turning over Jones' phone contents that the plaintiff's attorneys said were mistakenly forwarded to them [emphasis added].

Mark Bankston, one of the lawyers representing the parents, previously stated in court that federal law enforcement and the Jan. 6 committee investigating the Capitol riot had asked for the contents of Jones' phones. Bankston said he planned to turn them over unless he was instructed otherwise by the judge.

Oops!

Judge in Alex Jones trial won't prevent Sandy Hook lawyers from handing Jones' text messages to the Jan. 6 panel

The thought that Alex Jones' attorneys have been crisis actors has gotten some traction here in Alaska.  This is the era of conmen, grifters and charlatans.  Jones will capitalize on the verdict because there are so many people who are fond of his brand of anger and outrage.

Living about 30 minutes away from Sandy Hook and at work the day it happened, I am repulsed by his followers who aren't sympathetic with the parents.  That is sociopathic and I used to believe that sociopathy was more rare.  I was wrong.  Do you think the future plaintiffs will have the ability to find his overseas accounts and drain his funds?

Maybe. Perhaps his lawyers will continue to be helpful to the plaintiffs in future trials.

I just wonder if anyone knows where his physically IS.  I don't know foreign banking laws well enough to know if there is a way for a court to siphon off that money for a judgement.  I know the IRS can tax money from foreign accounts but that would be different from moving the money to pay a fine for a case in the USA.

I guess the Republicans believe that those diabetics are abusing their insulin subscriptions:

Republicans successfully stripped a proposed $35 per month cap on out-of-pocket spending on insulin for patients enrolled in private insurance from the tax and climate bill.

The Senate parliamentarian had ruled that the provision, sponsored by Georgia Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock, is not primarily related to the federal budget. That gave the GOP a chance to raise a procedural objection and would rather hire more staff to go through millions of applications asking for free insulin, rather than putting a ceiling of $35 for everyone.  This is stupid and mean-spirited at the same time:

Waiving the rules required 60 votes to succeed. Seven Republicans sided with Democrats to keep the insulin cap in the bill, but that was not enough. Democrats plan to use the GOP move to strip the insulin cap in the fall midterm campaigns.

Many in the GOP supported an amendment from Louisiana Senator John Kennedy to instead provide government funding to subsidize insulin purchases for low income individuals.

Classic example of Republican priorities.

There are many reasons insulin is very expensive.  Simply putting a cap on how much one has to spend on it doesn't solve that problem.  It only spreads out the costs to the rest of us. It's a lazy "fix" by our elected leaders.

How about they actually work on a solution rather than sticking it into unrelated legislation?

Instead, Republicans want to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices on behalf of we the people, right? Most Americans want that. In fact, no they don't want to allow that negotiation... the republican Crapo proposal simply puts a cap on Medicare drug costs... what you consider a lazy fix.

It might be an idea to try to work with Republicans to fix our health care and prescription drug problems but so far, Republicans don't seem interested and haven't really forwarded any reasonable ideas for these problems since Trump promised health reforms before the last election. Republicans have walked back some of those Trumpian health care reform remarks.
