Administration rations monoclonal antibody treatment based on incorrect data.

"Now, one doctor says the government's massive miscalculation cost lives.

"I am as angry as I possibly can be about this," Dr. Ron Elfenbein, the medical director and CEO of FirstCall Medical Center in Gambrills, Maryland, told Fox News Digital on Wednesday. "

https://www.foxnews.com/us/maryland-doctor-monoclonal-antibody-treatments

This doctor's story is pretty fishy, and call me cynical but I feel like it might have something to do with the fact that he's also the CEO of the only for-profit urgent care clinic offering monoclonal antibodies in Maryland.

The CDC's forecasted transition of Delta-prevalent cases to Omicron-prevalence was off, but as it turns out only by a week.  The actual cases count for the week ending 12/25 showed Omicron to now be the prevalent strain in the Maryland region.

Halting shipments of the two MAB's not effective against Omicron has nothing to do with whether Maryland had those MAB's on hand since states typically stay at least a few weeks ahead on supply.

It turns out what actually happened is that the Maryland governor issued a notice that since the options for effective MABs were about to become limited, and that they should only be used for patients where it's actually indicated (why that hasn't been the rule in Maryland all along I don't know).  Well actually I do know, some Republican governors have been pushing the idea of MABs as a substitute for vaccination, which is a bad idea.

Yes, as Chare explained, Ms. Erskine is a satirist and comedian. I think she is hilarious. At times, she is more believable as a spokesperson that the real ones.

It's very easy to find a doctor to support your ideas.  I appreciate though everyone's ideas but also consider what is the consensus among experts, not just one Dr.

The doctor in Maryland stated Biden was acting on faulty evidence but failed to back that up, so it's just an empty accusation when experts have said the treatment is less effective against Omicron variant.  But the point that Delta was still around was a valid point.

DeSantis has a history of being low key during surges.  He did this during the Delta surge here.  But really what's he supposed to say.  "Yeah, we're screwed"?   So this doesn't bother me.

DeSantis gets props for really promoting the vaccine at first.  Then with the hesitancy within his party, he promoted treatment and did a good job with that.  It's as if, "Well if you won't get vaccinated, you're going to get sick, so we're going to focus on letting you get sick and then treat you".  He found a doctor to support his idea and even spread some fiction about vaccines.  I talked about that at the time.  Still he seemed to be a leader in the promotion of monoclonal therapies.

The US reported nearly 488,000 cases on Wednesday.  Naturally at this kind of infection rate demand for treatments is going to be high.  Florida's weekly numbers come out tomorrow and I would venture to guess it would be record setting and the treatment stockpiles would be diminishing.

Certainly a reason to look at it with a skeptical eye.  But, he still might be right.

Really?  Would you bet your paycheck that the most recent data is correct.  I wouldn't seeing that they revised from 70-something down to 20-something percent.  Now we're supposed to have confidence it's now over 70%?

Typically, maybe.  I've read about other states running out.  Not really worth arguing about, but you know for a fact Maryland still had a supply?

That's not what the article I posted said.  It's my understanding they were directed to not use two of the MAB at all.  Maybe you have a different source?  Hard to tell, because you seldom include one, and the small audience of clapping seals never question you.

I've never heard any push it as a alternative.   DeSantis and Hogan I know has encouraged vaccines.  I do know of Democrat governors who have touted the MABs, including our governor in Colorado. Don't even need a doctor's referral.

DeSantis.... I know has encouraged vaccines.

To be fair DeSantis pushed vaccines at first when we all were excited to be vaccinated and there was a huge demand.  When he began to see the pushback he began to flirt with the anti-vaccine crowd and push for treatments.  Obviously he's taken a stance against mask mandates and vaccine mandates.

He certainly hasn't been like Biden nearly every day encouraging people to be vaccinated and bolstered,  as a first line defense, although I do appreciate having treatments available.

This is one thing he could be doing right now instead of being in hiding, he could be promoting encouraging the vaccine, testing and treatments.  But he's just going to let it burn through, like I said that doesn't bother me much because that's his method of operation.

I think I talked about this already though.

I am happy that people here don't seem to be getting real sick, but it's very disruptive.  Yesterday three people in my unit tested positive, two RNs and a physical therapist.  Our unvaccinated conspiracy secretary tested positive the other day.  This is the 2nd time she's had covid.  But none of them are hospitalized but they are out of work making it hard for the rest of us.  It's not their fault or anyone's fault, just saying.

Our hospital system is increasing covid positive patients at a rate of 40 or 50 a day the past week.  This might be some coming in for other reasons than covid systems but found on admission screening.  The ER is testing people the minute the walk in the door.

It also seems that if we follow South Africa's path it will burn through us in a matter of weeks rather than months but it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Liberal hypocrisy, once again

"Ocasio-Cortez’s decision to hang out in the red state of Florida amid the historic number of coronavirus cases in the city that she represents comes after she repeatedly attacked Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for briefly going to Cancun, Mexico, earlier this year as the state of Texas dealt with a storm crisis."

Did she leave her dog alone in a cold house?

What would she accomplish by remaining in NYC? There is already testing, vaccinating, and masking being done. Cruz on the other hand, might have been able to mobilize federal resources to help texans who were suffering from extreme cold and power losses.

As to comments as her being in Florida without a mask, my state does have a mask mandate for indoor spaces, but can be removed for dining. The picture in the article appears to show her outside. If she has family in Florida, it makes some sense for her to visit them. I suppose Cruz had family in Cancun, I.e. his wife and daughters.

This is still a distraction from the fact that the governor of a state being hard hit by infections is missing in action. And his press secretary seems to struggle to put out a coherent message about where he is. He is a public official and his electorate deserves to know where is is and what he is doing about the current crisis.

Don't you imagine that he's suffering the humiliation of a viral illness?

That passes as journalism in the Daily Wire.  Seems more like the goal was tittilation of the targeted audience who didn't have any problem with the Texas senator leaving the country during a regional crisis but who see something sinister in spending a Winter holiday break in another, warmer state while the entire country lives with a pandemic. Fanning the flames of partisan animus is the primary purpose of Shapiro's platform...it's profitable for him.

You are well aware the DW audience and conservatives in general don't have a problem with her traveling.  The above is simply deflecting from the obvious hypocrisy of her vacationing while her constituents are in crisis, when earlier this year she criticized Cruz for the same.

Her choice of vacation spot, being a staunch vaccine and mask mandate and other covid restrictions proponent, where she chose to spend her time, and more importantly her money,  kinda seals the deal.  She spends her money in FL, while those in her district suffer economically due to covid restrictions that she supports.

And the response she gave today after the backlash, proves what a loon she is.

It's been like this since the beginning, and not just for pediatric patients.   Why is he saying this now?

"He added that some children who are currently listed as being in hospital with COVID may actually be receiving treatment for "a broken leg or appendicitis," rather than for a severe reactions to the virus."
