Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!
Interesting article.
Quote"The former president’s son has a message for the tens of millions of evangelicals who form the energized base of the GOP: the scriptures are essentially a manual for suckers," Peter Wehner writes. "The teachings of Jesus have 'gotten us nothing.' It’s worse than that, really; the ethic of Jesus has gotten in the way of successfully prosecuting the culture wars against the left. If the ethic of Jesus encourages sensibilities that might cause people in politics to act a little less brutally, a bit more civilly, with a touch more grace? Then it needs to go."
QuoteI understand that many Americans, including some number of Republicans I know, would rather we move on from the Trump family. But the Trump family and MAGA world won’t let us. And they’re playing for keeps.
I've said many times on these forums that I don't understand evangelicals support of the Trumps but I'm beginning to see that they've changed the narrative in how they want to interpret their religion.
Also, I'm frustrated that Trump and family are not going away and the the MAGA supporters aren't letting go and moving on.
QuoteHarry M. Reid, the Democrat who rose from childhood poverty in the rural Nevada desert to the heights of power in Washington, where he steered the Affordable Care Act to passage as Senate majority leader, died on Tuesday in Henderson, Nev. He was 82.
Mr. Reid had been treated for pancreatic cancer, which was diagnosed in 2018, but lived to see the Las Vegas airport renamed for him earlier this month. His death was confirmed in statements from Gov. Steve Sisolak of Nevada and Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the majority leader.

Administration rations monoclonal antibody treatment based on incorrect data.
"Now, one doctor says the government's massive miscalculation cost lives.
"I am as angry as I possibly can be about this," Dr. Ron Elfenbein, the medical director and CEO of FirstCall Medical Center in Gambrills, Maryland, told Fox News Digital on Wednesday. "

Indeed. States like Michigan, with vaccination rates hanging around 55-60%, are using lots of those expensive treatments to attempt to keep people out of the hospital. Supply is already short.

And by the way, there is a buzz in the media that he hasn't been seen in 2 weeks, despite his state experiencing an explosion in case numbers.
Actually, first DeSantis was one of the more proactive governors in getting vaccines out in pharmacies and mobile clinics.
And, yes he has heavily promoted MAB treatments as well. His surgeon General is claiming the federal government is holding back supplies of MAB, and Florida has gone to buying it directly from manufacturers.
The "media buzz" stems from one political rival mayor complaining DeSantis has been MIA. His last covid press conference was two weeks ago tomorrow. I'm sure he's not the only governor who hasn't been out there in the last two weeks.

We have been out for a couple of months here in the north. My girlfriend had to drive 2 and 1/2 hours alone to downstate by herself when she was moderately ill because of non availability here. Seems they are becoming frowned on anyway.

QuoteThis latest dispute stems from when the federal government in late November temporarily paused shipments of GlaxoSmithKline’s Sotrovimab antibody treatment to states while it assessed the drug’s effectiveness against the omicron variant of COVID-19.
The pause on Sotrovimab shipments lasted about three weeks. By Dec. 17, the federal government had resumed its shipments, distributing 1,050 doses to Florida, according to federal data. On Dec. 27 — the day before Ladapo sent his letter — Florida got another 2,580.
QuoteFederal data shows that Florida hospitals also have nearly 10,000 doses of Regeneron’s monoclonal antibody treatment on hand, and about 4,000 doses of Eli Lilly’s treatment. However, those therapies have not proven to be effective against the omicron variant of the virus, leaving an overwhelming demand for GlaxoSmithKline’s Sotrovimab treatment in Florida and across the country.
So the federal government put a pause on shipments for 3 weeks, and then resumed. But apparently, Florida already had doses on hand?
My state, including the governor, has been actively urging boosters. We are also mourning the loss of a state senator who contracted COVID in November and died about 5 weeks later.

Yes.

Fair enough, but the statement was that he lied about masks. What would his agenda be to lie?
I do think he understands respiratory illnesses, but even during the worst flu epidemics we never were recommended to wear a mask. (Although a friend in El Paso said during one of the outbreaks like N1N1 they recommended masks locally). Yep he missed the mark and then back tracked. But did he lie? This seems to be one sticking point people go to over and over again.
Maybe it is a glaring example of overall incompetence, but I also agree with the presumption he delivers news people don't want to hear so they attack him. When he said wear a mask, people were like "it's a violation of my rights and there's no scientific proof it works, and you just said we didn't have to".
I saw the same thing during AIDS. "It's a sexually transmitting disease". "Well, you really don't know for sure so lets kick them out of schools and away from swimming pools because you never know."
