Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!

Trump turned it into a political states' rights issue as if each state existed in a sterile bubble from which the virus couldn't escape to another state. And here we are almost two years later still debating the effects of Covid. ARghhhhhhhh.
Tell me, has this been corrected in the 9 months Biden has been in office?

It takes time for liberals to correct all of the screw ups that occur during republican "leadership" and Trump left quite a few messes to be cleaned up after his 4 years of failure, lies and profiteering. Besides, how does the president fix the covid reporting in states like Florida, Texas or the Dakotas?
For many years now, republicans have elected presidents who have created economic, diplomatic or social issues which must be resolved by their liberal predecessors. Trump was no different in that regard.
Business Insider published an opinion which outlines that phenomenon. The economic aspect of this tendency is especially interesting and has been examined quite a bit. This This Princeton paper is available to to download as a PDF and is worth reading to gain an appreciation of the difference in approach to policy and how that effects us as a people.
All of us are a little frustrated that Trump left so many avoidable problems and issues, many of which are obscured and hidden intentionally, that must be resolved if our republic is to be a shining example of how great a democracy can be to the world again.
I don't know if anyone would be able to understand THIS, but I'll give it a try.
Afghanistan is currently on the verge of possibly qualifying for the semi finals in the cricket world cup being held in Abu Dhabi. This is the same Afghanistan that Americans are in uproar over re Biden’s withdrawal. I really wish I could put it in context for you guys what the cricket world cup is, about the teams that are playing, in the country that they are playing it in, the crowds and the billions, (BILLIONS) of people watching the tournament over the world!
Afghanistan is like a high school basketball team almost qualifying for the last four teams in the NBA championship. Except, a high school basketball team has far more resources than the Afghanistan team!
The significance of this post is how the rest of the world functions and how absolutely BIZARRE AND ALIEN America is to the rest of the world! Even when we compete in the men's soccer world cup, WE ARE SPECIMENS! Even to other first world countries or even other Western European countries, we are ALIENS! IT'S why they watch us, because we are zoo animals, completely different from the rest of the real world! Even to Canadians!
Not only is our politics different, we actually think differently from other people. We have an alien perspective compared to the real world. Even if there is a Putin or a Bolsanaro or Orban etc, people like Ted Cruz or trump or McConnell etc, are alien to the rest of the world! People save money in the rest of the world, we spend money and borrow to create a great credit score for future loans to spend money we don't have! We have politicians that lie to the extent that instead of just dismissing them completely from our lives, we have companies like facebook etc that actually thrive on the lies. And we did it to ourselves! We have embraced consumerism and the lying advertising industry so completely, that even our religions and its leaders have embraced that version of reality! We have a Supreme Court that is so biased and corrupt, it can only be compared to a corrupt third world country's!
And this is normalcy to us!
It's only after you have lived abroad in other first world countries, that you can see just how alien and bizarre we really are! I actually don't even think people flock here for work or money, but instead, for the American portrayal they see on televisions and movies! Even our broke, poor, living paycheck to paycheck people, want their Burger King or a new car to drive, with money they don't have instead of a good old used car or cooking a meal and will vote for somebody who will take away their health care or rights to have an abortion or actually vote AND DO IT WILLINGLY because they are so BRAINWASHED!
I think that people reading this post will not have a clue or even take the time to even consider what I'm implying here, and that's my point! I don't think that a regular American earning around $55k with the expected educational achievement, would last a few months in a similar European country without going crazy, because they are so alien to others. NO ONE puts up with the lies and *** that we tolerate here and just go about their everyday lives!
Even in Hungary or Russia, they know, that they are being conned!

I can appreciate the sentiment but I don't agree with many of the specific points of discussion. This, for example: "Even if there is a Putin or a Bolsanaro or Orban etc, people like Ted Cruz or trump or McConnell etc, are alien to the rest of the world!" I don't agree with that at all.
There have been people conned by authoritarians since the beginning of human civilization. We've fought a couple of significant wars because of some of that large scale activity. Conned people don't know that they are conned until the con is sufficiently exposed...usually after they have lost something. Currently, American republicans are in the middle of a con. Many of them are radicalized in the indoctrinated thinking at the core of the con and they are sufficiently agitated to take violent action or threaten violence without much provocation or incitement.
This con needs to be sufficiently exposed before the 2022 midterm election so that at least some of the conned realize the peril. If the con is not sufficiently exposed before that election the republic will be lost. The con is about power and the conned are eager to give the authoritarians all the power they seek.
Democracy is on the world stage. It's difficult for democracies to take quick and decisive action while authoritarians are fully capable of taking immediate action. The Republican party, from state government to federal office in 2021, is demonstrating dishonest and authoritarian tactics and tendencies to forward Anti-Democratic policy, slow the actual function of government, and create bottle necks and barriers for governance to benefit We the People. Republicans seem intent upon breaking our republic so that they can blame Biden (and democracy) and then Trump and unfettered capitalism can "save" us. This is one of the ways that authoritarians seize power. First they convince lots and lots of people that their government is broken and then they convince them that only they can fix it.
isn't there someone here who keeps up on the Sunday morning news programs? I'm surprised they didn't mention this interesting, but not surprising info from a NBC News/ Meet the Press poll:
"When asked which party better handles particular issues, Republicans hold double-digit advantages on border security (by 27 points), inflation (24 points), crime (22 points), national security (21 points), the economy (18 points) and being effective and getting things done (13 points).
By contrast, Democrats hold double-digit edges on abortion (by 10 points), the coronavirus (12 points) and climate change (24 points), but all of those advantages are smaller than those the party enjoyed during the 2020 election."
And, of course Biden's approval continues to plummet:
"What people voted for was stability and calm," added fellow Democratic pollster Peter Hart. "And what they got was instability and chaos.”
In the poll, 42 percent of adults say they approve of Biden’s overall job as president — a decline of 7 points since August, with much of the attrition coming from key parts of the Democratic base."
What happened on Jan. 6: Trump stands back as rioters breach Capitol - Washington Post
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/interactive/2021/what-happened-trump-jan-6-insurrection/
This is a discussion of Trump's integral role in the violence that occurred on 010621. This is part of the process of revealing the con to the public.
Staten Island protesters foreshadow fight against children’s vaccine mandates, warning of possible violence
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/11/01/anti-vaccine-staten-island-protest-burn-threat/
Quoteone attendee had another worry — that the city, like the state of California, will force children to get the coronavirus vaccine. So he offered an unnerving warning.
“If they’re going to push this on the kids … I can guarantee you one thing: Town halls and schools will be f---ing burned to the ground,” the man said in a video posted by freelance journalist Oliya Scootercaster.
The crowd clapped, cheered, banged on drums and raised their American flags.
The radicalized group refusing to mitigate the pandemic are dangerous and unreliable. How much provocation or incitement will it take for the reckless words to become violent action?
How did these conservative Americans get radicalized in this way? Is it related to their media choices and isolation?
Unraveling the con by the liberal media and Democrat leaders that have a few believing in a January 6 "insurrection".
"At the rally preceding the events in question, Donald Trump had suggested that people march to the Capitol “peacefully and patriotically”—these were his exact words—in order to make their voices heard. He did not incite a riot; he stirred up a crowd. Was that, given the circumstances, imprudent? Probably. Was it an effort to overthrow the government? Hardly.
I know this is not the narrative that we have all been instructed to parrot. Indeed, to listen to the establishment media and our political masters, the January 6 protest was a dire threat to the very fabric of our nation: the worst assault on “our democracy” since 9/11, since Pearl Harbor, since the Civil War! (Really: Joe Biden said last April that the January 6 protest at the Capitol was “the worst attack attack on our democracy since the Civil War.”)"

I did catch part of this segment on Meet the Press, and it never fails to amaze me that media that has been labeled as liberal, likes to paint the Biden administration as a catastrophe. I hardly see a decrease approval rating of 7% as a plummet, especially when the margin of error is +/- 3/1%. I notice that MTP and Chuck Todd are careful not to compare these ratings with previous administrations at comparable points at time in office.
Yes, I am disappointed in some of the outcomes, but I hold Congress and and obstructionist Senate as responsible as the President.

Chuck Todd is no Tim Russert:( These Republicans who were polled obviously don't read newspapers if they believe that Biden is responsible for all the failures he was given before his election. No one at AN has given me a single idea of what to do at the border without having to change the laws (if Americans have the stomach for that). It's a world crisis but they don't think beyond our own southern border. Actually, no one has even brough up changing the laws because that would be HARD but he they don't like the laws that allow people to be held while their petitions are pending......change the laws and stop whining about letting foreigners in to do jobs Americans don't want to do - like marry Donald Trump!

Out of curiosity, at what point does the current administration become responsible for what happens during their watch?
