Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!

Based on what?

Wished her well? I doubt she is reading this. That was simply a line to make you feel a little less like a jerk for what said next.

I was responsible for my self, and able to make my own decisions. Younger people who died also made their own decisions. Most of them decided to not get vaccinated. That is tragic, but not the fault of DeSantis.
That's what I mean by being well qualified to judge!
Apparently you were born fully formed with the bulk of knowledge required to negotiate the world, needing no advice or nuggets from anyone as you grew up.
The rest of us, rely on older, wiser people and education and elected officials to make us safer. Not kill us!
You may wish people dead Beerman, it's the republican way, I possess empathy and it's a reflection of your thought patterns when you decide to apportion my emotions for me!
Not surprising, though!
Jesus, this might be a revelation for the republican supporters!
Bugger me, socialist country with all these capitalists!
Whatever will they of next? Fiscal, empathetic, considerate republicans? I know, let's just say no to the hypocrisy!
Bet that'll never happen!
DeSantis only had the state in lockdown a couple of months in 2020 and was one of the first to open back up. So it might be argued that opening up caused our first Summer surge in 2020 before the vaccine. States like North and South Dakota that like Florida had less restrictions had higher rates of covid. So perhaps it's fair to give DeSantis some of the blame here. Still at that time more restrictive states like California had similar rates of covid and death than Florida.
It is not fair, and I agree with Beerman above to blame him for the surge of 2021 caused by the delta variant and the unvaccinated.
However, as I stated above the population of Florida had the same information that the rest of the country had and chose to ignore it, not get vaccinated and spread covid among themselves despite being begged by healthcare workers to be safe. DeSantis just gave us the freedom to not be safe.
All states now are in a fully open status and the rate of vaccination is what does and doesn't cause hospitalizations and DeSantis can only do so much to convince people to be vaccinated. They are widely available for us all. The good news is at least for people over the age of 65 there is about 85% vaccinated.
I do think he's going a bit too far in fighting against organizations that mandate vaccinations for workers or customers and schools that want students masked right in the middle of a surge worse than 2020.
Again, I am not defending him, just giving my opinions on what I see beyond the rhetoric.
So Tweety, why did you think he wanted to open up the State early, so Florida's freedoms won't be trodden upon or could it be political or selfish or corporate lobbying? How about future presidential ambitions?
I'd be very interested to learn about someone who IMO opinion has demonstrated repeatedly very dubious character traits, actually was being concerned without an ulterior motive. Especially, relating to which Healthcare professionals had to bear the brunt of his decisions?
I didn't realize that he was so admirable? Maybe I was wrong about him? I could also be wrong about Beerman as well especially with the hundreds of right wing statements supporting trump and his Cadre?

If you value ideology over life or the value of health care workers or the financial interests of taxpayers, yeah, DeSantis was your cup of tea.
Leftists don't like DeSantis because he doesn't prescribe their fascist authoritarian policies. People are flooding Florida in droves fleeing liberal dystopias like NYC and California. My home has gone from 400k to 700k in the last 18 months bc of this. Love DeSantis and the freedom he allows us Floridians. Future president

You fancy yourself to be a real expert on what "leftists" like or don't like about DeSantis, eh?

Almost everybody's home prices have gone up during the pandemic because we don't have the materials we need to contruct new buildings. It has nothing to do with DeSantis. Real estate in California is also booming. NYC and the burbs took a hit when the Trump tax "cuts" went into effect because of the $10,000 deduction ceiling. At this time, my house actually went down a little in value but has returned back up during the pandemic. If we have never had Covid, your house would be less inflated in price. And these kinds of prices usually get resolved when the bubble bursts and the whole cycle starts all over again.

Speaking of rhetoric (fascist authoritarian policies). It does bring up the point that he is widely popular among Republicans particularly for ending the lockdown and choosing freedom over mitigation, despite his approval rating dropping during the surge when he was being a dick. He will easily win re-election should he go that route.
My home has doubled in value since I bought it 20 years ago. I want to downsize as I age but can't afford to because a downsize would be more expensive despite making profit on a sale of my home. Flood insurance is becoming a nightmare for some folks. Florida despite having lower taxes than up north is not all that. Florida is rapidly becoming unaffordable to the middle and lower classes. Particularly for renters.

Yes, unfortunately a whole lot of people did favor freedom over mitigation of covid. This included a whole lot of republicans and businesses owners that were struggling.
But it's now 2021 and all states are open and we have the vaccine. We all have the same information.
