I'm frantically trying to make my work space as pleasant and efficient (and nice looking) as possible. School starts on Monday and I'm still trying to re organize my space to make it work well for me - not an easy task. This may be sort of a dumb post - but I wondered what all of your study spaces/offices look like? You could post pictures if you want or have them or just describe your area :). It might be fun!
My area so far has a craft desk w/all my craft supplies on one side w/a bookcase also dedicated to crafting related items (and a printer).
The other side has my "work desk" with the regular desktop computer and another bookshelf filled w/books my husband and I like to read and some home organizational files and stuff.
I just went out and got a little $20 metal industrial restaurant style 3 tier bookshelf for all of my nursing books/gear/notebooks. I figure that if I don't have a spot for them specifically, it could get disorganized pretty quickly.
What do you all like in your work space? I had to take out my old giant tv to fit in all of this stuff - so it's been making me want a flat panel BADLY. I don't work well in total quiet, but unfortunately that isn't in this nursing student's budget at the moment .
Your back doesn't hurt? I have tried studying on my bed and I can only do that for 20 mins because my back starts to hurt. I like comfy chairs they support my back.
Nope! Then again, I never sit back in chairs anyway...I much prefer to be on the front edge of a seat sitting up straight. But as I said, I have a reading pillow on my bed which I lean up against.
My study space is my bathroom! My husband built a "master bathroom" for us, so it is 10 by 14. It has a big comfy wingback chair that was his great grandmothers and a small ottoman and a flat screen (that was for him)lol. But I took it over because I can go in there and not hear the kids. He keeps an eye on them. Even if he comes in and takes a bath he automatically becomes omy study buddy so he usually stays away lol.
Where ever my husband and kids are not!
No but seriously, I have my desk in our bedroom that I use occasionally, with my bookshelves stoked full of my books and supplies. But the majority of the time my husband is watching the tv and the shows he chooses to watch annoy me for the most part, so then I go into the living room and either send my kids upstairs or wait until they are in bed.
Here's the little "nook" I set up in the corner of my bedroom.
I love having all of my stuff really close by so I don't even have to get up if I need to grab a book or supplies. (If I get up to do something, I usually start doing something else lol.)
Also, it helps me that I'm facing a wall. Not sure why, but I seem to stay more focused this way than when I'm facing an open space.
