Another thread has prompted me to ask: what mantra/saying/advice has gotten you through nursing school? What do you mutter every day as you head out to all the responsibility that is waiting for you?
Here are mine:
'Never let anyone or anything get in the way of your goal.'
When you think you can't do something, you WON'T. When you think you can, you WILL.
I have the above two sayings on my fridge, so I can look at them every time I open that door.....which is a lot, sadly, LOL.
Finally:
"One more day down and on my way to my goal."
These three sentences have given me strength the whole time and have made a difference for me. What helps you?
I "trained" at a hospital's School of Nursing, in the late '50s, and kept telling myself "if the others can do it, so can I". It worked!
I've loved everything about Nursing, and have worked in many different areas of it, went to University for my degree in Public Health Nursing and have 47 years of great experiences, still going strong!
My clinical instructor gave me this one: "If your teacher says the sky is pink, the sky is pink until you graduate. Then it can be whatever color you want"So now I mutter to myself whenever I disagree with the instructor " the sky is pink, the sky is pink, the sky is pink......"
I LOVE this story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sky is pink!!!!!!!:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat

I don't really have a mantra. I normally just reflect on all the dead end, BS jobs I've had in the past and never want to return to. That usually provides the necessary motivation for me.
