I take it you're looking to make a lot of money with very little stress? Sorry. I got nothing.

As the stress level and liability increases, so does the money (read: chief nursing officers, advanced practice nurses, directors of nursing services, etc).
Likewise, as the stress level plummets, so does the money (read: school nurses, home health nursing, etc).
Therefore, pick your poison. If you want high earnings, you will grapple with more than your fair share of stress. If you want to decrease workplace stress, the result typically entails a drastic cut in pay. Again, pick your poison...

Don your armor, OP. Nurses frequently get flamed when they express interest in improving their quality of life. Frankly, I think this is a fantastic question. I have no insights to offer, but I hope that you find what you're looking for!

Each area of nursing carries different stressors. Usually as the pay scale increases, so does the stress.

It really depends on what within nursing is appealing to you. For example, working the floor (med-surg), would be extremely stressful and overwhelming to me as it is just not for me. The ER or an ICU, although stressful, is not daunting to me.
You have to like people and medicine to go into nursing and then figure out where in nursing you want to practice. If you love mother-baby, you wouldn't mind the stress of being a midwife. If you can't stand the population you're treating, then you'll hate your job.

Define what would make a position less stressful. Good clinical support, time limited encounters, little to no family contact, low acuity, low ratios, a wealthy clientele, a safe environment, management support, no on call, a set schedule, no weekends .... be specific and we might know what your priorities are.

Stress is relative. What you find stressful may not be for someone else

An actor who plays a nurse on TV, maybe? Although I hear network studios can be stressful places to work...still, the pay might meet your requirements.

This made me laugh as well. Sadly I don't know of ANY high paying job that does not have some sort of stress with it (nursing or not). Plus everyone has their own things that stress them out. I am honestly sitting here trying to think of a low stress - high paying job. Every job that I think of I can than think of a stessful part of it. Sorry.

Private duty nurse for a lonely elderly millionaire who has certain types of problems requiring the applicant to be very skilled in massages. However, other job requirements might include having a boob job prior to hire and maintaining a size 0 pant size, so this job could indeed be very stressful if you are averse to going under the knife or eating an extreme low calorie diet.
