University of California, Davis (UC Davis) Fall 2024

Published

I'd like to start a thread to keep updated with everyone's timeline from "Application Received" to "Hired" or anything in between. I didn't see a post and wanted to start one.

I applied tonight 04/7/2024.

Good luck to everyone and may the odds be in our FAVOR!

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

Thank you so much for creating this! I didn't see a forum either and was gonna create one but you beat me to it 🙂

Just submitted mine today 4/8. Good luck to everyone!

Hopefully more find our thread and begin commenting because from previos posts I've seen that some already are "under review or for further review" just a few days after submitting. Do you happen to know how many new grads they'll take in? Given they just started two new cohorts last month.

I hope so!

I'm not really sure how many they take but I've seen posts on LinkedIn that have 70-80 total new grads (both cohorts combined). I'm not sure if that's how many they're taking this time around or if it's really dependent on the organization needs.

Same I just applied on 4/7. Would love to follow for updates

Oh my! That's a lot! I read from previous Fall Cohort that they only hired 15 people! And the first batch of interviews were for NICU.

My stats:

I hinted Critical Care. I completed my preceptorship in adult ICU. For my application I attached my BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, RN Lic, BSN certification, 2 letters of recommendation and of course with resume, cover letter, and transcripts. I don't think your overall GPA matters. Mine was 3.96GPA. But I also do not have a lot of volunteer hours and did not complete any intern/externship.

Awesome stats!! That's amazing OMG

Yeah I think I heard some rumors or from a previous forum that they were on a hiring freeze for a while and it affected the new grads. I'm not sure how reliable or true it is but if that's also what you heard then I'm thinking it's probably the case. Who knows how many spots are available this time around ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah. They were on a hiring freeze but they just had both cohorts start in March. So, that's why I don't know 😕.

What are your stats? And unit of choice?

I read that they base it on the experiences you've had and not really what you asked for on your cover letter. It's stated on their website UC Davis. I also, just followed their cover letter format that they offer. Given I couldn't find a seminar or anything for UC Davis. So my letter is pretty much talking about my accomplishments/skills I've acquired/values that align with their mission/values/philosophy of Nursing that UC Davis has.

I just applied on 4/10, wondering how much was the pay for residency? I didn't see any numbers when I was filling out the application. Also, when will we hear from them?

If I am not mistaken it is like $66/hr. I saw it somewhere on the site while I was doing my research on UC Davis for my CL.

No idea. From previous cohorts specifically last fall some applications were under review by the 13th just 3 days after the application's deadline. And we're routed for further consideration within a week, interviewed and hired by May 9th. But for others it didn't move as quickly and didn't hear back until mid June! Like the application itself change from received to review.

So who knows. Given they literally just started 2 cohorts a month ago! 😳

Yeah I've heard similar! I'd love to work somewhere in Peds! I'm really lovin PICU/Peds ER, but IDK if they hire into those spots for new grads, so I'll take anywhere! I'm grateful I was able to do my senior preceptorship in Peds, but I also hinted at it in my cover letter.

My GPA isn't super impressive (3.4), but I was able to volunteer during nursing school for a Mom/Baby unit. I've also got certs like ACLS, PALS, BLS, NIHSS, NRP, and STABLE. I put on my resume that I did some additional outside training courses/skills days (Stop the bleed and a community skills day for peds at another hospital). I wasn't able to do any externships/internships either, but I've been working as a CNA/ER Tech for the last couple of years.
