I'm curious to see why other nurses may hate nursing or what they hate about it? AND GO!
I couldn't agree more! It makes me sick that people with no medical background are in charge of making decisions regarding patients lives! What's best for the patient isn't even remotely considered! The suits can try to spin it anyway they want but the truth of the matter is it all comes down to greed. SMH
How we are given such a full plate of work and a load of charting that we dont have a lot of time to spend with our patients. I feel horrible just coming in saying hi, giving pills and then see ya! Bottom line: the charting requirements and requirements from management have gotten excessive and ridiculous.

Tell them you are not going to do it, go up the chain of command (Intern, resident, Attending, nurse manager, nurse supervisor etc.), explain your rationale and simply refuse, but tell them they can do it. Usually they cave, but I have on occasion, after telling MD I cant do that because whatever reason, they do actually go do it, and then its their license not yours.
Regulatory requirements that don't actually improve care. For instance, being told we have to do x now, but being assured it won't change our work flow... well then, why are we doing it if it doesn't change anything?
In the US, customer service based healthcare. It creates an often conflicting environment of fluffing pillows, serving hot coffee while trying to prevent a heart from arresting next door.
