What did you get for nurses week?

Published

I'll go first,

Icecream social, free massages at work and a picnic blanket with hospital logo. I'm sure there are other things I've left out but this is what we got so far.

Nothin'. But, then again I forgot my boss on Doctor's Day.

The same thing I've gotten the last five years as a nurse educator: nothing.

Delicious goodies and a pen. I enjoyed the goodies.

An invitation to a fancy "nurses week" dinner at a winery which I would have to buy my own ticket for at $50 a pop. I guarentee you that 95% of those in attendance at that dinner will be management. I've heard there is a nurses tea or something at some point during the week. I love my job though so I'm not really complaining much.

We got an email that outlines major changes to the unit that many people are so unhappy about that we will lose some of them. :-( The next day some of the nurses threw a "farewell to the old unit" party.

And a couple of catered meals but I didn't work on those days to get any of the food.

And a luncheon that happened of course during day shift which I slept through.

I am a school nurse...love my kids/staff and parents. I am the only nurse. I know if I worked in a hospital or docs office then I would be lucky to get a free lunch. I am blessed.

A million hand made cards from all the students. I love them!!

Beautiful Flowers both real and 1st grade made me handmade paper flowers in a vase :-)

$90 in the form of a money tree from 5th grade along with a gigantic card

1 hour massage gift certificate from local spa

Candy, cookies

Coffee mug, lotion, peach soap

Starbucks gift card

Subway gift card

Hubby took me out to supper.

That's great! I think I'm in the wrong area of nursing.

Specializes in Obstetrics.

Uh a Florence Nightengale book. ?

Whatever.

I got potted flowers. Better than last year at my old job when we got nada. Previous years we had celebrated all week: ice cream social one day, treats from the nurse managers another day, different games with prizes like guessing the nurses' baby pics( I won a super nice wine set one year!), and it was wrapped up with a luncheon cooked for us by the DON and the NHA where we'd each get a gift such as a personalized water bottle or travel mugs or what not. Sadly when the facility was merged with a larger health care company and the DON and NHA were replaced they stopped acknowledging nurses week.

My husband never acknowledged that it was nurses week which kinda makes me sad. Only my sister in law sent me a "Happy Nurses Week" message.. :-(
