Icecream social, free massages at work and a picnic blanket with hospital logo. I'm sure there are other things I've left out but this is what we got so far.
My hospital did some stuff, the crowning glory of which was a cake tasting... where they asked volunteers to bring in cakes and then charged people for the privilege of tasting them. So, they spent exactly $0 and actually made some money on events for nurses' week... at least they let the nurses taste the cakes for free. Not that there was anyone to relieve us so we could go down and get some cake to taste, because of course the cake tasting for night shift happened at the very beginning of the shift. Thanks, hospital.
I've learned not to expect anything, so I wasn't disappointed. The last time I got anything was about 10 years ago~ a 5 minute massage that I couldn't attend because there was no one to relieve me.
