Montgomery, Alabama new grad ASN $20.7 (Having BSN wouldn't make any difference). I think Alabama in general pay nurses the worst. COL is of course low compared to other cities.

San Diego around $55/hour starting. Will increase with greater work experience.

WOW. This is crazy and a shame... nurses deserve so much more.

That pay does sound terrible until you take a good look at COL. This seems to hold true throughout the southeastern states with the exception of the high tourist volume cities. A friend of mine just moved south and is making I believe $23.75/hr and bought a 6 bedroom 4 bath house with a garage, barn and shed on 15 acres of land for $75,000. I don't live in a real high cost of living area and couldn't touch a property like that for less than a couple hundred thousand without getting really lucky.

WOW. Good for your friend. I wish I could afford something like that in SoCal besides renting. Lol

IHS in Phoenix pays 100,000 a year, maybe a bit more. You have to do an extra 8 hr shift q 2 weeks to make 80 hours per pp. similar to VA

does this mean all RNs are salary? Not hourly?

Specializes in Critical Care and ED.

Central CT - $60/hr ($55 base pay + $5 shift differential) in the ED with 30 years experience. Now I'm an APRN it's very much more than that.

I live in Phoenix and have applied to IHS and the VA. The IHS hasn’t updated my status and I applied 3 months ago and the VA status says referred but I haven’t heard anything else. I desperately want to get a fed job. I have an upcoming interview with the BOP in San Diego but I’d love to stay where I’m at. Fingers crossed that they’ll contact me for an interview.
